Hi,

I am a broke med student and my mom recently gave me some Dove beauty bars for sensitive skin (the green box). Are these ok for washing the face with and getting makeup off, or do they make you breakout and leave buildup? I haven't used a bar soap on my face ever before so I don't know what to do. I have always used acne facewashes but my skin has been getting really dry and itchy this fall/winter.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

dove it what dermatologists recommend quite often...
i use it in the shower regularly and on my face as well because it is very gentle...

but i still regularly exfoliate as well...
i think a lot depends on your individual skin though...
i find it works for me...

It's strictly hit or miss when it comes to bars for your face....
either you will hate it, and never touch one again
or you will never go back to anything else.

I think Dove is the best inexpensive bar to use on your face. Neutrogena is good too but I wouldn't start with that for the first time in the winter.

My personal favourite is Shiseido; it's pricey but exceptional. MAC used to do seaweed soaps every christmas that were great; I think they stopped that a long time ago.
Erno Laszlo, Dior, Estee Lauder and Sisley were overpriced and extremely average. Not bad, but not great either.
Clinique's was.................:yuk:

Dove is what my derm recommended to me... I've tried a lot of "expensive" products before to clean my face, and NOTHING works better than dove. It does not clog pore and is totally residue free... Removes makeup very well too..

A lot of dermatologists told me Dove works very very well for acne prone skin. But you still need to exfoliate at least once a week though! :flower:

Do you use a washcloth with it or just your hands? Thanks for the replies!

Dove works extremely well. I use it on my body as well as my face. I also use Dermalogica skin care products. I would recommend buying some sponges for your face. I don't use the same towel on my body as I do my face. I use my sponges for my face and you can put the sponges in the microwave for 12 seconds or so (it kills the bacteria and makes your sponges last...my esthetician told me this). Hope that helps. :flower:
