Dsquared2 Menswear F/W 2023.24 Milan

^ I know lol! Honestly the more I get older the more I've come to appreciate their fun tackiness. Like look 12 kinda slays.

Oh God, takes me back to the sloppy Paris Hilton era. I mean it's well executed because these two lived through it and you have to give it to them to continuously make their denim look interesting, but I always think Dsqaured design for campaigns and editorials. I don't see people wearing their clothes. Only a certain type of gay to begin with, and even then, only the underwear. Always baffles me when I see their campaigns because it means they might actually be profitable? Or do they get the real money from denim and underwear.

A bit late to the 2000s party but we will still take it. Reminds me of their fun shows back then.

An uber sl*tty, early 2000s Abercrombie and Fitch/Hollister explosion.

Kind of into the crassness. Plus they did help cement that kind of look from a fashion perspective too because that's always been their thing in a certain way. Half the male models look like BelAmi models too.

Denim, underwear and leather goods I believe. I've heard very good things about their leather quality and wouldn't be surprised if they're the main brand people get their jackets, pants, skirts and shoes from. Especially those with the penchant for the fetish and can fork out the cash. Accessories and shoes do well among the more well off drag queens as well.

Despite their brazen approach, they're actually very low key when it comes to who actually wears it because it is a pretty particular clientele. They're separates work pretty well in wardrobes and if you didn't say it was DSquared2, or if it wasn't branded with it, no one would really know.

It’s tacky, it’s maybe fun but I find it so weird…I feel like their clientele has outgrown this kind of proposition.
Yes the Dsquared2 aesthetic is very specific but it has also been more sophisticated and cleaner or at least, edgier. This feels very reductive. It feels very « show » and not so much about what to wear. Good knitwear as usual.

Honestly, I like it when a brand is unabashedly tacky. Although, I feel like "tacky" is too limiting of a descriptor. Not sure how to explain it better... it's "tacky" but not tasteless? Like it was done with care and skill behind it. They're definitely in their element and enjoying it.

The styling is definitely a play on bad taste, but the care and workmanship behind each individual piece manage to elevate it beyond simply that.

I am glad they returned to their old runway format, where a tableau of models was happening at the back. I think that's Dsquared's signature. Clothes-wise, I think the styling can be edited and more directional. One thing I like about Dsquared shows is that you already know what you'll get, and their themes are fun and easy to consume.

it's giving tacky. it's giving 2000s'. It's giving euro trash. And I love it. I do agree though most of the retail stuff are not like this at all. They seem so basic. But well I guess they still sell.

I actually see a lot of young, straight lads wearing their shoes, caps and jackets. It's really a thing over here and always amuses me as they are the kind of people who would never wear any of the runway clothes and probably have no idea what the brand stands for.

Actually what they show on the runway is what they sell in the shops. And most of these clothes, if not all of them, are very wearable, it is really a matter of how you style them. Some are more ‘daring’ than others, that’s all.
The red choke t shirt is also a reissue.

I used to wear a lot of dsquared until I grow out of that phase. Their classic, regular stuff are actually well made, timeless and easy to coordinate. If you are a toned to muscular boy or men, chances are they will look flattering on you.
