Naomi is one of the greatest model of all time but the quality of her work has drastically detoriated since the pandemic.
Even if before it was sometimes a bit caricatural, she had some glorious moments in the 2000’s and 2010’s. Even before the pandemic, I think about her story for VP by Emmanuelle or even that beach story she did for Vogue UK. There were moments where she gave something.
There’s something very dry and robotic about her work lately. Both editorial and runway. Her appearances at shows don’t have the same impact anymore for example.
She has always worked with smaller, independent publications or designers but when the result is that, it makes you question the decision.
The problem with supermodels is that at some point, they have « their brand » and so, they are also part of the creative direction of a shoot. And so, a lot of things becomes redundant. With some, it somehow works because we get it at small doses: we know that 2 times a year, we will get « Mother Nature Gisele at the beach » or « Glamourama Gisele ».
Getting « Resting B face » all the year around from Naomi is not fun.
