Suvi Koponen/Calvin Klein Fall Winter 2007

I just watched 'Blade Runner' last night and wanted to expand on the posts made thus far by picking out certain visual themes reinterpreted by fashion photographers...this film has influenced a huge amount of fashion editorials. I might get bashed for going off base with some of these, but bear with me and see what you think!

Pris played by Daryl Hannah.

The set design in Naomi's editorial also makes a nice reference to the Toy Maker's apartment in the film.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Obviously 90% of these images are merely derivative, but you can really feel that they nod to the film in some way or another. I will post more if they ever pop into my mind!

I think this was the inspiration behind Vogue Italia February 2012. This was Elsa Schiaparelli and her era "obcession" with surrealism (the actual inspiration for the editorial)

Steven Meisel's Spellbound for W Mag September 2012 was obviously inspired by Guillermo del Toro's Pan Labyrinth

incidentally, goya's witches and dance of the witches sabbath might have served as inspiration too, being also a source for the film's imagery:

Can anyone identify the references for the Linda Evangelista editorial in W September 2012? The one with the Balenciaga dress looks very familiar..

Since the DVD is being released in France, and I didn't know that film ...
It seems old favorite Steven Klein editorial, with the Swimmer published in Uomo Vogue with Chad White, is inspired by The Swimmer (1968), directed by Franck Perry and staring B. Lancaster.

THE SWIMMER takes place in an affluent Connecticut suburb, and for Ned Merrill (Burt Lancaster) it is where he confronts all of his dreams...and deceptions. According to Judith Crist, "Burt Lancaster gives the best performance of his career," as Ned, the troubled suburbanite, who one summer morning decides to "swim" home via the pools of his wealthy friends. Along the way he encounters several women from his past: a tempestuous teenage girl (Janet Landgard), teetering at the edge of adolescence and womanhood; his embittered ex-mistress (Janice Rule); and the sensual wife of an old friend (Kim Hunter). Ned's journey is one of embarrassments, humiliation and steamy passion. He passes from one scenario to another until he arrives home to an empty house...and to a startling self-revelation.

I'm not sure we discussed this inspiration, here ...
But it's being talked about onto here : http://www.theimagist.com/node/1413
