obviously it's stupid to say "same as usual" blah blah because he doesn't do anything else but this, however if he just used some better colours, brighter, more vibrant it could completely transform this collection - it would be fresher.
It reminded me of Valentino as well, but both of these houses have always had a very similar aesthetic.
I do like that he is using feathers a tad bit more, at times he nails it others well... two steps forward one step back.
His embroidery here is beautiful, I love that its still all over the place in true Elie Saab fashion but now it's so exquisite, detailed and used to create the flower/butterfly wing motifs on the gowns, not just there to cover the whole look for the sake of it, there a bit more lightness to it as well.
The Elie Saab show is what the Valentino show used to be when it was still Garavani's guidance. Spectacular dresses that even the untrained eye can appreciate.
Its so beige. Even when he uses color its so washed out it basically is just more beige.
Aside from that, I always found his over embellishment to look messy and lacking refinement, and this is no exception. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
Elie Saab collections are always very commercial and very pretty. Nothing less, nothing more. My problem is that I don't feel like I'm getting a sense of the Saab woman like I do with Valentino, Dior, Versace etc. Almost everyone would like these clothes, they don't feel focused and lack a bit of personality. They're beautiful, of course, but couture needs more imo.
