Elle Australia November 2016 : Elle Macpherson by Gilles Bensimon

Elle looks great here, if not a bit like Julia Roberts. The swimsuit looks more early autumn than high summer to me.

I like her and she looks cool and young and her body is banging but the swimsuit looks ugly to me. It looks momzy and the color does not help.

Not quite the swimsuit I'd expect for an Australian summer - and certainly not on Elle, who looks great at any age. Then again, given the watch and jewellery, this is the swimwear equivalent of a business suit, so maybe the message is more about power dressing for the beach.

Happy to see Elle! She looks great. Swimsuit isn't sexy, but considering both her age (I'm sure she looks fantastic underneath it however I don't blame her for not wanting to prance about in a bikini on a magazine cover at this point in her life) and the crazy high amount of people I know getting skin cancers cut out (people in their 30s as well as people older), the togs are sensible. We need to think more about health and less about fashion when it comes to running around in the sun.

Bit disappointed they didn't use the Cancer Council of Australia's Ugly Christmas Rashie. Ah well, the black is elegant, albeit boring.

It would be nice to see her in a more fashionable outfit. Like old times! It has been a while too, a shot of her by Gilles.

It seems medical experts are somewhat undivided about the effects of sun exposure. Dr Mercola claims that natural sun exposure is a tremendous source of Vit D, which I take in capsule form here because of our awful weather, while the rest seem to shun it due to cancer scares. I tend to believe the former, tbh.

British Vogue maybe does a sunny edit for one month, two at most. Magazines in general are forever racing to reach autumn or winter, not sure why. So it's somewhat of a reprieve to see Australian & Brazilian magazines glorifying summer so religiously.

I will definitely buy this because Elle by Gilles is something worth keeping, but the cover is a little underwhelming. i think they could've commemorated the whole ellexgillesxelle thing with a more memorable cover. Her shoot with gilles for paris match a few months ago captured 'the body' better.

Must admit that I was beyond excited to see the results of this shoot, since Elle Macpherson shooting with Gilles Bensimon is a match made in heaven for Elle and a major score for Elle Australia. However, upon seeing the outcome, I cannot help but feel disappointed and deflated over how flat and generic the cover looks. It's a beautiful cover nonetheless but I was expectant of SO much more.

Oh, natural sun exposure is a great source of Vit D, for sure. In the land of Oz though, that lovely *sarcasm* large hole in the ozone layer means that we also get a heap of cancer causing UV rays along with it, that northern hemisphere living folks are protected from. There's been a big push for more skin safety here, hence Elle's cover, I think, and considering my own feeling of relief upon seeing a cover that promotes that, it's working. Although I do love a sexy and elegant beach cover that has awesome togs.

I read recently that it looks like the CFC ban decades ago is actually having an effect and the hole is shrinking....fingers crossed!
