In many quarters of the modeling industry finding an American amidst a sea of Brazilians, Belgians, Estonians, and Poles can be challenging. It certainly can be done, but not without effort. Harder still is to find a native New Yorker plying her trade in the circuits of high fashion. Meet Emily Carter, 5’11″ (180 cm) 16-year-old from Manhattan’s Upper West Side. In June Emily joined the agency and is one of the latest additions to the Ford Women board, which is separate from Paul Rowland‘s editorial board simply called Ford. Emily splits her time between attending high school on the Upper East Side and all that comes with modeling including testings, castings, client visits, etc and so on. Since speaking with the Ford Models Blog Emily already been booked for an Armani presentation to editors and continues to be well received by casting directors and clients alike.

Outside of modeling Emily enjoys classes in art at her high school, which recently included book binding — the Ford Models Blog never had such cool subjects as a high schooler! Were she already not the proud holder of the signature white Ford Models portfolio, then Emily would certainly be well placed to fashion her own uniquely bound portfolio. And speaking of her book, it’s growing by the week having already completed a handful of test shoots and soon will no doubt soon have to make room from tear sheets. Emily is also very keen on music as are many teenagers. When she spoke with the Ford Models Blog a few weeks ago she had been listening on her iPod to Belle and Sebastian, Ratatat, Deadmau5, A Tribe Called Quest, and a long-time favorite, Wu-Tang Clan! All of which is to say, this 16-year-old has musical taste.

Blessed with flawless skin and figure wedded to an intellectual curiosity and quiet confidence the Ford Models Blog has no doubt it will be seeing plenty more of Emily Carter in the time to come.
