wow, love at first sight with her close up shot by terry!
As a Victoria’s Secret girl and the face of Giorgio Armani’s new island-inspired fragrance Acqua di Gioia, DiDonato has had her fair share of bikini moments. With her wasp-stung lips and long honey-coloured limbs, the 19-year-old from Orange County has been in high demand since she scored a contract with Guess? straight out of school. She is now one of the faces of Maybelline, alongside Christy Turlington and Erin Wasson, and was dubbed “one to watch” by German Vogue. Here she shares her beauty beach and body secret with Vogue Australia’s Sigourney Cantelo.
What was it like shooting the Acqua di Gioia campaign in Hawaii?
It was one of the greatest experiences I’ve had since I started modelling. The island was breathtaking, from the ocean to the forest, the wildlife and scenery. The days were long and required a lot of physical activity. I was running all day, in the forest in the rain, then to the beach and into the crashing waves. Although Hawaii was a little colder than I expected, all the running kept me warm! When the filming finished at the end of each day, I would collapse on my bed and sleep like a baby. I was grateful to have been very athletic my whole life.
What do you think of the Acqua di Gioia scent?
It reminds me of a refreshing shower on a hot summer’s day and a cool ocean breeze, a beautiful island, crashing waves and the exotic forest.
What’s in your beach bag?
I always have my Burt’s Bees lip balm and an SPF 30+ sunscreen.
What’s your favourite beauty treatment?
Besides my bed, a good massage does the trick. I like the Great Jones Spa in lower Manhattan.
What’s on a typical day’s menu?
For breakfast I’ll have an egg-white omelette with spinach and a little cheese, or yoghurt with walnuts and fruit. For lunch I’ll have either grilled chicken or fish with sweet potato. For dinner I have a salad with vegies topped off with grilled fish or chicken. If I have dessert it’s Greek yoghurt with some exotic fruit.
What are your skin and hair essentials?
I like St. Ives apricot scrub, I moisturise with Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser and I use Kiehl’s shampoo and conditioner.
What’s your secret to glowing skin – any foods or supplements?
Salmon and sweet potatoes. They’re both favourites that keep my skin healthy.
How do you prepare for swimwear shoots?
I go to the gym every day. I run or walk three miles and sometimes I’ll do a yoga or pilates class, for strength training. I also eat lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water.
