Hailing from that hotbed of hotness known as Perth, Western Australia, Emily is genetically blessed – her mum was a model too. With her powerful glare, ultimate model body and chameleon-like changeability, Emily has so far worked in Asia but is now ready for international markets. An impressive level of professionalism and passion for acting make Emily the kind of girl people love to work with. This kid, born on Christmas Eve, is a joy to the world.

Meet the Models — Emily Green

We had to resist the urge to hug her because that would be both creepy and inappropriate.

On Thursday afternoon, we held a casting with our Fashion Week contributors Mark Vassallo and Yimmy Yayo at Luxe Studios. I tagged along too, and fumbled around taking iPhone photos of the girls. I also asked them about why they are so hot their modeling careers. We'll be putting up one profile per day in the lead-up to MBFWA. Today, meet Emily Green from Perth who is such a small cute tiny little being that I had to resist the urge to hug her because that would be both creepy and inappropriate.
Ingrid Kesa: How old are you?
Emily Green: I’m 19 years old.
What agency are you with?
I’m with Viviens.
How long have you been signed to Viviens for?
I’ve been signed to Viviens since I was about 15 years old, so a good few years, and I’ve recently just signed a contract with IMG worldwide.
That’s exciting, congratulations.
That was just at the end of last year so I hope to travel overseas soon.

Have you been overseas with your modeling yet?
Yeah, I’ve been over to Asia quite a few times. I spent three months in Singapore, six weeks in Seoul, and a month in Tokyo and I’ve spent a few weeks in Dubai.
I was just in Tokyo, it’s so good.
Ohh, I love it there! It’s such a cool city and it’s so beautiful, everything lights up at nighttime. It’s amazing.
So have you walked at Australian Fashion Week before?
Um, no. I’ve only ever done Perth Fashion Festival, but hopefully I’ll be moving on to bigger things now. I’m really, really excited for Fashion Week this year, I think it’s just going to be amazing.

Why are you excited? Is there one thing you really want to see or be a part of?
I just love the whole atmosphere. The rushed feeling backstage, and leading up to it. It’s like, your feet might hurt, you’re a bit uncomfortable, but as soon as you get out on the runway, you just feel amazing. You forget everything, and it’s awesome, I just love it.
Do you ever feel nervous before doing a job or walking in a show?
I don’t ever really feel nervous when I do photoshoots but there’s always the live aspect to [runway shows]. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking but it’s good butterflies, it’s adrenalin. It’s great, I love it.

Perth beauty hitting her straps

Graceful Perth beauty Emily Green has just returned home from Dubai, where she shot a glamorous high-profile campaign for Siddharth Jewels which will feature in Vogue India.

The booking is a huge coup for the Applecross-raised model following in the footsteps of fellow WA stunner Fiona Thomas, who was featured in the high-end fashion mag in April last year.

Green, who spent time last year modelling in Singapore and Korea, worked for two weeks in the cosmopolitan United Arab Emirates city and also shot for Emirates Woman and Marie Claire.

The 18-year-old is finally hitting her straps after being discovered by Christine Fox, of local agency Vivien's, at age 14 when walking to school.

After convincing her mum - who used to be a model in Britain in the 80s - to allow her to enter the Vivien's model search, Green's career began when she was awarded second runner-up in the comp.

"I don't know how they knew how I was going to turn out because I was short and chubby-faced," she says.

Green says not only has modelling changed her life but it's given her an invaluable boost to her self-esteem.

"I was never the popular or the pretty girl in school," she says.

"A lot of the guys at school never saw me as being a model because I would never, ever talk about it, because I hate it when people brag."

But things have changed for Green, who has been dating her first boyfriend - Perth photographer Carlo Fernandes - for six months and plans to head back to Dubai for a few months ahead of making a permanent move to Sydney next year.
