David Lawrence Fall 2011 Campaign | Emma Balfour by Georges Antoni
David Lawrence creative director Anthony Cuthbertson and campaign creative director Nikki Hillier join forces for the Aussie label’s fall 2011 campaign. Photographed by Georges Antoni, the advertisements keep it in the Oz family with the Sydney location featuring buildings by Australian modernest architect Harry Seidler and starring Aussie model Emma Balfour. A story of structure paired with luxe fashion, the campaign captures moments in the fashionable life of Emma styled by Claudia Navone. / Makeup by Linda Jeffries, Hair by Sophie Roberts

Emma Balfour
The straightforward look espoused by both Gordon and the Deal sisters had an impact on model castings. Though Kate Moss is remembered—rightly—as ushering in the post-glamazon era, there were other key faces that represented the new moment. To wit, along came Emma Balfour, kittenish yet androgynous, who grew up (no joke!) in a traveling circus in Australia. In her prime, Balfour sported a grown-out, peroxide-blond pixie cut and a whole mess o' attitude. Along with Kate the Great, she epitomized the nineties' yen for natural, bared-faced beauty. (A latter-day Balfour catwalked her way down the Spring '09 Alexander Wang runway and went on to star in Celine's Fall 2010 ad campaign.)

She's one of my favorite models ever, the epitome of edgy and beauty. Can't wait to see her on NYFW and the other cities, her showcard put half of the models today to shame.
