indiewireRyan Gosling and Emma Stone starring in a musical? You don't have to tell me twice to get me to buy a ticket. Now toss in the director of "Whiplash," Damien Chazelle, and you have one of 2016's most anticipated films, and the first look at "La La Land" has arrived.
“There’s an incredible romanticism in L.A. that you don’t always see when you’re stuck in traffic on the 405,” Chazelle told EW about his movie, which follows a young couple — actress Mia and jazz pianist Sebastian — who try to keep their relationship together in a city of cutthroat careerism. The movie will also feature a supporting role for J.K. Simmons, who took home an Oscar for his turn in "Whiplash."
Get ready to sing and dance when the film opens on July 15, 2016.

Emma Stone is attached to star in the Black List spec script “Letters From Rosemary.”
The script tells the story of Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy, the first-born daughter to Rose Fitzgerald and Joseph Kennedy Sr. and the eldest sister of President John F. Kennedy and senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy. After displaying behavioral problems that caused her to fall behind the achievements of her siblings due to a mental disability that was long kept secret, Joseph Kennedy arranged one of the first prefrontal lobotomies for her when she was 23.
The procedure was botched and left her permanently incapacitated. The spec, written by first-timer Nick Yarborough, will take a look at the moments leading up to the procedure and how it affected the family going forward.
Steve Golin and Doug Wald of Anonymous Content, whose “Spotlight” just took the top prize at the Oscars, will produce the project. Allard Cantor, Jarrod Murray and Richard Arlook will also be involved as producers and the producers found the script via the Black List website.
For Anonymous, this marks another hard hitting drama the banner can add to their ever growing list of hard-hitting dramatic material that will surely have heat at award season whenever it should bow. Other than “Spotlight,” Anonymous was also behind “The Revenant,” which saw Leonardo DiCaprio take home best actor Alejandro G. Inarritu take home best director and they are also behind critically acclaimed TV shows like “Mr. Robot” and “True Detective.”
With Stone, the actress continues to show a knack of picking high-profile commercial pics like “The Help” and “Crazy Stupid Love” and highly regarded prestige roles like her Oscar-nominated part in “Birdman.”
Stone, who is repped by Anonymous Content, WME and attorney PJ Shapiro, was recently attached to star in an untitled comedy series with Jonah Hill that Anonymous is also producing and is set to star as Billie Jean King in Fox Searchlight’s “Battle of the Sexes.”
