Well, as obvious the surprise I ment was the guys on the bikes, what the!? Another surprise is that I realy like those pants with the strange cut to them, I usually don't like Emporio, so. The shades are realy cool, but the rest is absolutely not special at all. The suits are ok, but just not special. It's not ugly, just not special. I don't like those sardine-shiny jackets, though. Not at all.

Giorgio has had that monkey gland operation at the Swiss clinic .

It's CERTAINLY rejuvinated him : it REALLY is as good , to me , as ANYTHING I have seen so far in Milan this week , and that includes Costume National , Alexander McQueen , Antonio Marras , etc . There's life in the old dog yet !!!

I like what I am seeing and there's an Emporio Armani branch in Manchester .............:innocent:

Here I come .............

EMPORIO ARMANI'S FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION .

From Fashion Wire Daily .

By Godfrey Deeny .

All that free time spent on his beautiful yacht, Mariu, seems to be doing Giorgio Armani and his fashion the world of good.

The reigning heavyweight champion of men’s style – a crown he’s held for, well, at least two decades now – sent out his snappiest, freshest and most sure fired commercial Emporio Armani men’s collection in years in Milan this Wednesday, the latest day of a sweltering Italian heat wave.

The maritime influence was clear throughout a show that made you just one to reach the shores of the Mediterranean and skip the runways of Milan.

Though there piles of great jackets in this collection the dominant image was crumpled chic micro fiber and cotton pants, ideal for strolling off a yacht and into a seaside terrace or night club. Paired with impeccably cut beige striped jackets in technical fabrics, adorned with silver brooches on the lapels, it made for a chic but easy look.

His goal, the designer explained, with Emporio Armani is to express “liberty of taste,” and there was lots of freedom of expression in this collection. Button holes were replaced with ethnic fastenings or pants held up with plaited cords not belts.

Giorgio also had his design staff working overtime to create some wonderfully aged leather jackets that came unlined and beaten by hand. These were paired with brilliant silk pajama pants making for an elegantly sexy new look. Arguably Armani’s greatest talent is his ability to imbue clothes with that designer stamp without making them too costume-like to wear. He is also a great master of the color palette, with just the right midnight blues, earthy cottons, burnt caramels and hints of silver.

Applause broke out throughout the show, led by a front row of Usher – who has already made Gucci and Versace shows this week – Italian Olympic Gold gymnastic medalist Igor Cassina and Charlie Hunnam, the English actor of “Cold Mountain” fame, who is the face of this summer’s Emporio campaign.

Though he celebrated 70 years last year, Giorgio remains uncannily connected to youth culture, as his choice of Brazilian soccer star Kaka as model for Armani jeans confirms. Kaka was not in Milan today, understandably as he plays for Brazil tonight in the Confederations’ Cup final against their great rival Argentina. But every time I watch Brazil play, all any of my gal pals want to know is who is that gorgeous looking guy called Kaka. Some guys have all the luck.

LOVE IT !!!!! :crush: :crush: :crush:

Especially the bit about the ' aged leather jackets , unlined and beaten by hand ......... ' . Sounds RIGHT up my street !!!!!!! ' .

I'm JUST getting the car out .........

OMG , the collection won't be in the shops until January 2006 .

STILL , plenty of time to save .............. ;)

 Hilariously bad. This gave me my first good laugh today. Retire already!

What the hell, its some giant circus with flashy tacky clothes....running on bicycles and parades of men in bikinis.

sort of reminds me of a gay pride parade :ninja:

Generally that collection is.... STRANGE but I like some pieces of those outfits

It's like Gucci and Armani swapped design teams!

Gucci looks like Armani, Armani looks like Gucci. Sort of.

Whoa.

Whereas the dominating look of Italian womenswear tends to be all bright splashiness and hip-high slashes, the menswear division is a decidedly more laconic affair.

Sure, there is the occasional pair of Roberto Cavalli tassled leather trousers for the Fabrizio Bertellis of this world, but by and large Italian menswear designers look more towards the laid-back Mediterranean style than one inspired by the tacky Mediterranean nightclubs.

Whether this is because male consumers are more conservative in their tastes or just less willing to be trussed up by designers like improbable comic-book characters depends on your point of view.

Whatever your opinion, few designers better embody this approach to Italian menswear, and just how lucrative it can be, than Giorgio Armani.

Armani made his name by creating clothes inspired by idealised images of noontime strolls along the coast of Capri. However, some of his most popular items - such as the pre-wrinkled cotton suits with the sleeves rolled up just so, slouchy trousers, white shirts with the buttons undone to that vital centre point - became so popular in the late 70s early 80s that they are now more associated with Don Johnson in Miami Vice than the Italian waterfront they were meant to evoke.

As the sole owner of a $2bn (£1.1bn) empire, Armani seems understandably unbothered by such matters. At his show yesterday for his diffusion line, Emporio Armani, far from trying to break away from this original style he went back to it. As models strolled with slicked back hair, rolled up sleeves and aviator shades, it was as if Crockett and Tubbs were off to do another drugs bust downtown.

The heavy presence of male jewellery made reference to Armani's more modern-day fans in the music industry, with giant faux pearls dangling round the models' necks and rings encircling every one of their bare toes.

If there was any doubt about the build of the models, Armani included a swimwear element, generally referred to as the "hunks in trunks" moment, prompting much applause from certain members of the male fashion press. Perhaps Italian male fashion isn't quite so laid-back any more.

What to look for in the shops for spring/summer 2006

· Oh man, are you just so laid-back and casual these days that you can't be bothered to do up your trousers properly with a belt? Well done, that is the look you are going for next summer. Instead, just reach over and languorously tie a rope around your waist to keep your dignity. Or better yet, buy a designer version

· Missoni's collection was aiming for, as its press officer described it, a "60s On the Waterfront vibe". But think more Gilligan's Island than Marlon Brando and, yes, tie a rope at the top of your white trousers

· Alexander McQueen included rope belts in his Lord of the Flies-inspired collection, replete with little chains dangling down · Emporio Armani also included ropes, a detail the press notes described as "ethnically inspired". The precise ethnicity of the ropes themselves was not, sadly, specified

SO pleased to see that there are others who think that Armani STILL has something to offer .
