It is not by accident that her name is Eva. A name that embraces all the female genre. Former model, actress, and now the host of a new science TV show. Many will say she got the job because of her looks. What if this were true? What’s wrong with that? Is there a law that obliges us to see only ugly and vulgar people on TV, not to mention our Government ?

Eva Riccobono, isn’t that amazing? is smart, besides being beautiful. She is smart because she chose to host a science TV show, and not to be a TV agony aunt or be in other pointless programs in that vein, and this makes her far more interesting than others. She is determined and she will do a good job, because she is studying and will not be caught unprepared, and even in case she made a mistake she will certainly not fall into a trapdoor on live TV.

We had to read that Nilde Iotti – who was active in the Italian Resistance – at the end of the day may be compared to today’s Minetti (who apparently did not put up a resistance serving in the former government) and what would the punishment be in this case? A firing squad? I remember that when Santoro chose for his political TV show Anno Zero Beatrice Borromeo, beautiful and blonde, she was heavily criticized. She couldn’t be possibly smart too. Today, after earning a degree in Italy she is about to get a second one at the Columbia University next month: I’m not saying we should praise her, but I would deem necessary a dignified silence.

Moreover, strange enough, no one here is related to anyone well-known. A plus point for both blondes. If we had to look into the life of real blondes like Eva Herzigova or Claudia Schiffer I would see women who have a busy family life and are trying to move on with their career, reinventing themselves as actresses or businesswomen, now that they are nearing forty. Using their brains, and not just their bodies. And what bodies!

Without mentioning all not "real" blondes like Madonna or Lady Gaga, I have to admit that being blonde has definitely helped them stand out. But besides that, they have brains and a natural talent that helped them enhance their skills to the most.

In short, we shouldn’t be amazed to see that smart blondes outnumber dumb ones, who are probably not even that way, because acting dumb may just be a way to get noticed. "It is for posterity to judge". For the time being, let’s enjoy smart TV shows hosted by beautiful, tall and competent blondes.
