"In a class of her own: Evelina Mambetova in Mixte

There is no perfect way for everyone and Evelina Mambetova is walking her own one, making her own marks where it’s worth to leave some. Our recent Lexposed Face had the same kind of show season than during Spring 2009, obviously not the most overwhelming amount of catwalks gathered on one list but everything looks so precious and selective with her. It started in NY with some of the smaller shows we watched carefully mixed to some bigger names like Philip Lim or Costello Tagliapietra. She kept it at the same level of quality and mystery in Europe opening Eley Kishimoto in London then walking for Antonio Marras in Milan. In Paris, it seemed just as perfect as it can be: solely appearing at Sonia Rykiel and Yohji Yamamoto.
As you can expect it with this kind of bookings, her editorial portfolio is one of the most interesting of the moment relying on her intriguing grace and delicate yet strong presence. Not to say she’s absolutely everywhere, the bunch of stories in magazine she put together lately is breathtaking regardless of the point of view (number or quality). It started with Plastique by Louis Christopher, went via the cover of Hobo by Paul Rowland or an editorial in French Revue de Modes to the most thrilling part of current Vogue Italia by Paolo Roversi. Then V by Josh Olins and Mixte (featured here) by David Dunan, styled by Celestine Cooney. She effortlessly fits very different atmosphere the same way she can go from Yohji Yamamoto to Sonia Rykiel or from Eley Kishimoto to Antonio Marras. She never loses this geniune look that seems to place in a different world, freed from the usual boundaries of a career in progress. She’s rather turning into a timeless muse than a superstar in making. Maybe the most remarkable example of what the fashion world needs: inspiration."
