I've noticed that despite the harsh reality and urban utilitarianism that's been the dominant theme for fall, some designers are really embracing a spirit of escapism by looking Eastward for inspiration. Russia, China, Japan, India, Mongolia and even a touch of South America can be seen so far, and if the pseudo Turbans, spicy colors and embellishments are anything to go by, the Galliano show will add a touch of the Middle East to this trend.
From folding paper screens, rich carpets and exotic birds to embroideries lifted from a palace, it's definitely a more is more aesthetic.
