I just have to say that I don't agree with the modern definition of "talent". I don't see that any of this work showcases any kind of talent for actual craftsmanship. I think these days we are far too much caught up with "creativity" - and to be honest, even in that this isn't great. All I see is material and junk heaped on models.

I was thinking the same thing as I scrolled through! It seems that too much value is placed on how cool clothing looks in editorials rather than how good it looks on the body.

Some of the Tron work on this page actually looks interesting... although I instantly think of Riccardo Tisci.

How's that first coat constructed?

how did not know that he was an antwerp grad? and i remember this collection very fondly too. i must have overlooked those credits. his jackets and coats are sublime.

i dunno whitelinen,before riccardo(and his status at givenchy,no less) antwerp students and ex-students were already constructing things in this manner. he shares alot in common with the way many of them are taught.

^ Indeed, but unfortunately that who first becomes famous with it will remain the "first". No matter if someone else did it before at fashion school.

Do you know anything about the technique used in the first coat?

that's nice to see how many people pay attention to the threads i open ....

overall im not that impressed with the list but of course, there are gems like sandra and funnily, i just saw antonin tron's work at style bubble. his work is great too though of course it is on the same general wave length as other well received men's wear designers but you can't overlook his interesting construction and well craftsmanship.

speaking of craftsmanship, im studying bespoke tailoring and somedays (like about now) i just break down and get weary, maybe it has to do with the intensity my course is taught at. it is definitely not an easy defeat. lately i live on self motivations like 'in order to do what i like i have to get through what i don't like'. sigh

^I applaud you for taking bespoke tailoring, it's a hard feat, but will definitely be worthwhile
