How does the Chinese societe perceive modelling and how does your immediate social circle react to your career as a model?
My hometown is Weifang, in Shandong province - a small city between Beijing and Shanghai. Although there is no sea, and it is not even very developed, it's where I grew up and I loved living there. There are also many beautiful kites there. Many people in China don't really understand the modelling profession and only regard tall and skinny girls as suitable people for the job. I'm not that type of person. However, my family, especially my mum, strongly supports me with my modelling career. I can't go back home so often because of my work, but my friends, teachers and parents always support my by staying in contact over the phone.
In what way to you think the Chinese ideal of beauty differs from the European one? What do you think about Asian people striving for the European ideal of Beauty?
Many Asians are fond of clear skin, solid facial features, nice body shapes and the warmness of Europeans. I am also fond of these characteristics, but Chinese people have their own distinct look: long and narrow eyes, a unique complexion and a traditional perspective with a focus on inner quality. While on the catwalk, Chinese models are gradually catching the world's attention.
What is the most important thing that you have learnt from your entire modelling experience?
Since the start of my modelling career, I have travelled a lot. I have met many new people, and I have learnt to be hard-working, hopful and confident. Most importantly, I have learnt to be unbiased and to always keep my feet on the ground....
