Fendi S/S 2025 : Mona Tougaard, Karolina Spakowski & Lina Zhang by Steven Meisel

Photographer: Steven Meisel
Casting director: Shelley Durkan
Stylist: Carlyne Cerf De Dudzeele
Hairstylist: Guido Palau
Makeup Artist: Pat McGrath
Models: Mona Tougaard, Karolina Spakowski and Lina Zhang

Hard to believe that Meisel and Carlyne were once responsible for some of the best imagery in fashion. This is embarrassingly bad. I wish they retired but can't blame them for not doing so when there are idiots willing to pay a lot for such lazy work.

^^^ Lowest standards of any fashion era ever these days is why someone as untalented as her is employed. Along with so many in the industry currently. Mediocrity attracts mediocrity.

The only time when Meisel’s offering passable work these days, is when he’s producing for Zara. Once in a while, like the recent Dolce campaigns, he’s also decent enough. But even the best of his current-day offerings, are just lesser versions of his greater works of the past.

Nothing is risked, nothing is refined, and nothing is elevated with any semblance of an effort anymore in high fashion. Mona has come to represent that image who, by all classic standards, is a gorgeous woman and model: Unreal, long, lean lines that’s a Modigliani painting come to life. And her features is of a face from antiquity. So unfortunate she has the modelling skills of a tween posing and walking for a nondescript midrange department store and their weekly discount flyer; If anyone is convinced she’s awful here, check her in the Vuitton campaign, where she’s a 10yo modelling in front of her bedroom mirror. Just look at the hand gestures LMFAO And in these days of mediocrity where Paloma is a “Super” LOL, Mona will never improve and grow as a model, the way that Kate impressively did from her debut onward. This is the era of “your mediocrity is just fine”, with not a motivation to always be better. Shame someone like Meisel has fallen for that too.

We’re already in the halfway mark of the decade, a period of fashion where sometimes if we’re blessed, great changes usually start brimming to the light… Anytime now…

These smiling images are so cheesy and cheap, make everything look like it was shot for a low budget mall catalogue.

I'm into the smiling, and I like this campaign a whole lot. It's fresh and season-appropriate with those spring-like colours and soft lighting. The whole cast look beautiful here too. Two solid Steven Meisel-shot Fendi campaigns in a row, IMO.

Wow I was unpleasantly surprised and shocked to find out this is MEISEL that shot this. As mentioned above, the post production makes it all look cheap. They need to relax with the huge font. The casting is weak, in my opinion - Mona is gorgeous and is the model of the moment, but none of these girls scream Fendi nor project charisma that’s fundamental to a Fendi woman. But again, maybe I am just horrified by the actual photography and art direction here….

The eyewear ad will look fine on a poster outside of Lens Crafters, or whatever. I'm sure Luxxotica owns the license, no?

Go see Meisel’s Anna Sui campaigns. Be careful, you might never recover from that.
