Forever21

in January F21 opens a store in Antwerp and since I live there I'm kinda excited but I on the inside I feel I'm going to be very disappointed. How are the accessories there?

I personally do not shop at this store, not only is the quality very poor, but what most people are forgetting is the structure of their garments is horrible. What sets high quality pieces apart from things you'll find at this store is not just what they are made of, but how are they made. There is a reason you're paying more for designer jeans, not only is the material nicer, more time and effort was spent on how designer jeans are going to fit your body. I've been to these stores a couple times and I've checked out their clothes myself. An easy way to tell if something is made out of low quality material is to check out the tread count, the softer the feel the most likely it has a higher count. The more scratchy and cardboard feeling the material is, the lower the thread count, which is pretty much everything in this store.

Also, the fit on pretty much everything in this store is horrible. I've tried it and I've looked at the structure. I know first hand. Nothing is made with any sort of fit, everything is just made like a potato sack, pretty much one size fits all. For example, most dress have elastic at the back, so that they don't have to put as much time effort into the dress. This screams cheap and looks tacky. If someone truly knows fashion and understands how things are made, stores like these are slightly offensive.

Yes, on the website, some of the stuff looks nice. Great lighting and the perfect picture angles will do that. But in person, I can easily pin point something bought at a forever 21 or Charlotte Russe. For respect for yourself, don't fall into this cheap, disposable fashion trend. Remember quality over quantity.

Well well, I pride myself on knowing a thing or two about fashion and I don't find F21 offensive.. I actually think that if you do know fashion and can tell the difference between say, Helmut Lang and something low quality but not as bargain-ish such as Marc by Marc, you don't have to touch the stitches or walk on investigation-mode into F21 to know that what they sell there is the lowest of the low in terms of quality.

That being said, I think it's a store that serves its purpose of democratizing trends by putting them out there, on the reach of everyone.. that's what trends are in its most basic form, disposable tendencies you forget about by next season and that's what F21 (or H&M) does, integrating them into clothes that you can also throw in the trash bin with no remorse the moment they break.

Fast-food clothing chains is what they are, you don't walk into McDonalds looking for gourmet food and walk out in outrage because they sell a bunch of crap.. and just because you can enjoy a high-quality meal it doesn't mean you can't appreciate the immediate satisfaction of devouring a Big Mac..
Also you can't sometimes have the luxury to invest on pieces (especially if you're young- like most of F21 consumers are), but life keeps going, you need clothes, so you go to F21 and get it over with.

Finally, I think you can find some nice garments there, it takes the same tedious amount of time of second-hand shopping but you can come out with some really nice pieces no one would guess they're from F21, either because they're too basic or easy to blend in with the rest of your wardrobe.

(btw, I think their stuff looks horrible online.. it's far more convincing in person.. and even cheaper as well).

I bought two pairs of skinny jeans for about $4 each, just to see how I feel about the trend. they both fit pretty nicely, actually. Same quality as the other, more expensive pairs I own.

More recently, I bought a cotton dress which fit pretty nicely. Some of their basic designs (not counting the knock-offs, of course) are cut pretty well. For me, it's a matter of finding items made of decent fabric and with some care.

I just go to Forever 21 for their basics, jewelery and accessories.

I wouldn't get anything else there. I used to buy their clothes but the quality would be fair.

I went to Forever21 when I was in America 2 years ago. I have to say the quality, for the price, is so much better than anything you'd get in the UK. I got a top, and its still in excellent condition, and I only paid like $10 for it... I have tops from places like topshop (thats as far as my buying range extends!) which have detiriorated SO much faster.
Of course it's not designer quality, nobody should expect that, but I think it's pretty good quality especially for the price :)

^^^Yeah, but it makes you wonder, if the quality is semi-decent, then how much are they paying for labor for a $10 top. They're probably spending more on materials. :-/

I just £50 worth of jewellery from F21. LOVE that there's a UK version of the store online now.

I was going to buy a couple of tops but was quite hesitant.

Does anyone know how ring sizes work? I usually buy from Topshop etc and get small but I'm not sure how to convert. Help from anyone would be appreciated.

I don't get the whole negative Forever 21 people. I LOVE Forever 21, personally. I have been shopping there religiously since I was 15 and I have never had a problem with any of their clothes. I'm actually serious, lol. No jewelry has ever broke, no shoes have worn out, no zipper has ever stopped working, nothing. I guess I've been extremely lucky? I have literally spent tons of money over the years. The only thing that has ever broke on me was an elastic headband that was quite cute too ( rip cute elastic headband *tear*), but I have an unreasonably large head (what? I do!) so that's a freebie in my book. I don't know, I just really am faithful to them I guess since I've never been wronged.

There are some things I don't buy there, though. I don't really like their jeans (though there was ONE pair I bought which I absolutely adored! Had to give them away eventually because I dropped a size and they were too large), and I don't usually buy their purses/bags/etc. either because they're usually too big and bag lady like for my tastes.

Just had to defend them!

^ I'm with you :flower:.

I've never had an issue with anything purchased from F21. I still have tops that I bought from them years ago that I still wear. I too have never had anything fall apart. I've actually had people mistake what I'm wearing for club monaco or the like.

But I also make sure to buy carefully from them. I always check the fabric materials and if it doesn't look good on the model it isn't going to on me . I also pay attention to the cut and seams of the tops. It gives you a good idea of how it will fit your frame. I stay away from their pants and bags.

I pretty much now shop exclusively their Love21 line. Its a bit more expensive but the quality is great and they use materials other than polyester and satin :p.

I've never had a problem with the items I've purchased at F21, but I just have to say that their "customer service" line is a JOKE. I don't understand why they bother to maintain a fake customer service call center where nothing gets done and none of the reps follow up on anything. Ever. Like what is the point? I've spoken to 4 different reps over the course of the past month and every single one of them has said they would contact me and every single one of them has failed to do so. I'm convinced their "email us" feature on their website is connected to a black hole.

Seriously, my shipping address was 1 number off and it has been nothing short of a nightmare trying to recover the package let alone get a refund. To say "well what do you expect given what they are probably paid", is a cop out. I don't make very much money where I work, and we are expected to bend over backwards for the customers. If F21 wanted to make customer service a priority, it is totally within their ability to do so. I think people make too many excuses for them which allows them to set their standards low. So just a warning if you ever place an order online, be prepared for the fact that if your package gets lost, you will receive the bare minimum or no help in terms of help to actually retrieve/locate it.

I actually like Forever21. It's not a high-end store, but it works for my budget as a teenager.

I buy my high waisted shorts there (24's are SO hard to find so I grab them fast) and my crop tops.

I don't buy anything with beads, sequins, etc because they do and WILL fall off.

Purchased these items today. Haven't bought anything from here in awhile but I needed some new shirts for work and of course had to pick up some other items as well.

I'm still really loving their Love21 line. Some of the tops are really pretty and I am loving the soft colour palette of pale pinks, peach, mint and soft yellow tones.

Went to the newish two story store at South Coast Plaza mall and got myself a few pyramid/spike bracelets in gold and silver and a crystal pendant that I'm very happy about. I also got a few basic and dark flowy tops for winter.
