French Playboy October 2008 : Lily Cole by Xevi Muntané

Do you all want to see a preview of her entire editorial?

All I have are VERY TINY thumbnails, the issue should be scanned by someone in a matter of days.

But if you want me to post some small previews... let me know.

Here is one, from http://www.playboy.fr/enkiosque.php

I personally think its a very sexy shoot, I think the photography is great and very artistic.
I've heard a lot of criticism, and its because people expect more nudity from a Playboy shoot.

But the French editions have better photography than US editions and less airbrushing.

Most of the pics and the lolita theme is silly as if they are targeting an audience interested in pseudo-underage pics.

The lack of nudity is ironic given all the fuss kicked up in the UK press in anticipation of nudity. I'm sure that "outraged" of Daily Mail is now outraged by the lack of nudity.

Words cannot convey how creepy this is...I can barely look at the image...

Absolutely horrible. Very Equus of her.

The editorial has such little t-and-a on show that again, I'd say the only point of the shoot was to use the theme of paedophilia to grab publicity while running away from doing anything daring with the concept.

I think how people view the shoot depends on how they view French Playboy - do they classify it as yet another style magazine, in which case, there are plenty of editorials in the fashion world that go way further than this... or do they classify it as a p*rn magazine, in which case, it's a different context (and readership) and that changes things.

Is the article an interview with Lily, is it a proper Playboy piece with a bit of thought about sex in society? Does the article argue anything about how people might view the images?

Yeah it's a little too pedo bear for me too.
What other editorials are in it?

well, after all, im quite impressed!
esp when she have really nice curves!!!!
come back to the cat walk again, lily!

Yech.. who cares if she is 20 years old.. she is obviously styled to look 12..

Exactly.

It looks like a 5 year old with a boob job. A surreal, creepy child.

Regardless of her actual age, they are heavily laying on the little girl styling, with stuffed animals, powder pink, and pigtails.

I know some see it as a style mag. I don't see it is p*rn automatically. If this shoot were in Vogue, it would still be creepy. Just like some Depeche Mode songs are creepy (re: A Question of Time), despite the fact I am a big DM fan. I accept it, but don't know if it is kosher.

*(I am not implying that her chest is fake, I think it is real.)

Thanks for the scans RobbyR.

I think she looks good and it's very true to the theme but I get really uncomfortable looking at the pictures. It's like the lack some sort of edge that would make her look.. like a sexy adult. To me she looks like an adult trying to look 12 which really is far from sexy to me

As a fellow Depeche Mode fan i do not think their songs are creepy and Question of Time is my favourite song EVER.

I think this shoot is interesting I love the colors, it's very Melody Nelson and we are all adults here to handle it, she's not a child and she does not look like one, she's an adult playing the Lolita like it has been done millions of times. I would worry about kids being sexualized not the other way around.
