Frida Aasen

I hope she skips the rest of the season. There's no need to spend a lot of time schlepping around town to castings, when there little or nothing to gain from it. She should focus on (more commercial) print work instead, where everybody knows she will be successful.

I don't really understand your reasoning here. Frida is clearly getting booked, and is walking in decent shows (see: Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui, etc.). She's certainly not walking away from NYFW with 20+ shows under her belt, but as we know that's not always a guarantee of a successful career anyway. Her type of beauty is very different than what is "in" at the moment, and that's okay. All she needs is to impress the right designer, casting director, or photographer, and skipping fashion week altogether at this point in her career might make her forgettable. I have a hunch she'll do much better in a city like Milan. As long as her agency has her walk in respectable shows, she'll be fine. ^_^

This girl just has an extremely unique face that NYFW designers fail to understand. NYFW is not for the girls who stand out from everyone else (with the exception of Wang, Theory, and Proenza) it's for girls who hold their own while blending in with everyone else. She can not afford to skip on fashion week, and although she may not get booked for every big show because she is still fairly new she must make casting directors remember her. Who knows how many designers she went to in NY, there are a few new girls who took the option to not go to every single casting in NY this season, and it's completely reasonable. NY designers don't pay well, and only about five of them are worth walking for.

I'm still rooting for her, and she booked Anna Sui, which is casted by Meisel or at least has all of his favorites so that's good enough for me

I almost feel like despite how amazing her look is, it isn't really want casting directors seem to be desiring for runway this season. Her look is SO strong and many of the girls who have been doing well seem to have more of that subtle/classic beauty.

If you ask my opinion I feel like a large majority of the newcomers walking are a bit of a snooze, but that's just me.

I agree that her bookings in general have been very underwhelming in both print and runway so far, but we don't even know if she was available in Milan. Perhaps she skipped Milan, because she has sad that she will be focusing on school until summer to get her high school diploma.

Almost nobody seems to want her for 'real' work?

*can't wait till the dollish look is in fashion again*

(But maybe that moment is too late for her.)

I find it a bit amusing how people conclude and make assumptions on Frida's career. Runway is important in a model's career but it is certainly not everything. Look at Julia Hafström or Hanna Holman lucrative careers. Sure they don't work as much but when they do, they land top clients and customers, both without many runway appearances.

In Frida's case, her short runway experience, has still booked her campaigns, covers, editorials and work with top/solid clients like 10 Magazine, V, H&M, DSquared², LOVE Magazine, Carine Roitfeld, among others.

People seem to forget how new and young she really is. In an industry made with faces that appear and disappear, I think it's a good thing that she keeps it cool until she can launch herself after her studies are done with.

You call it underrated, but it's rather a smart career choice.

Frida is shooting the Nasty Gal (?) Holiday 2012 campaign. I've never heard of it, but I hope she's making good money, if nothing else.
