GapStudio launches with Collection 01 designed by Zac Posen and fashion campaign shot by Mario Sorrenti with styling by Alastair McKimm
Gap today announced the launch of GapStudio — a new segment that represents the highest expression of the iconic American brand in terms of style, craftsmanship and quality, created inside Gap’s New York HQ with Collection 01 designed by Zac Posen, launching April 3. GapStudio showcases expert tailoring, intricate details and a modern take on American style – setting the foundation for GapStudio’s ever-evolving exploration of fashion, art and creativity.

“For over 55 years, Gap has been a canvas for creativity, allowing creators to reinvent Gap classics as personal expressions of style. Now with GapStudio, we’re taking that legacy to the next level,” said Mark Breitbard, President and CEO, Gap brand. “GapStudio creates both accessible, coveted retail collections and exclusive, one-of-a-kind designs that celebrate self-expression and solidify Gap’s place in culture.”

GapStudio Collection 01 is brought to life through a campaign photographed and directed by fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, with styling by Alastair McKimm, featuring supermodels Alex Consani, Imaan Hammam and Anok Yai.

“GapStudio is where craftsmanship, creativity and culture come together. Inside Gap’s New York HQ, we’ve built a creative studio where I’ve designed looks for the red carpet, and where we’ll continue to collaborate with visionary talent in the future,” said Zac Posen, Gap Inc. Executive Vice President and Creative Director. “GapStudio Collection 01 reflects that vision — blending tailoring with innovative denim treatments that sculpt and refine the fabric in new ways. This is just the beginning."

This collection features wardrobe essentials through Posen’s distinct approach to drape, tailoring, and construction — bringing a new level of craftsmanship to Gap’s signature textiles:

The Denim Tailored Trench Coat ($248), Double-Breasted Denim Blazer ($178) and matching separates, including a High Rise Denim Sailor Pant ($128) and Denim Sailor Skort ($118) showcase new proportions and finishes.
The Poplin Maxi Shirtdress ($158), which sold out upon its limited release last spring, returns in two new colorways.
Classic Gap colorways like navy and khaki are reimagined alongside a signature “pop-orange” hue, paying homage to the brand’s roots in San Francisco.
GapStudio Collection 01 retails from $78–248 and launches globally beginning April 3, 2025 ...

Love this idea. I hope there will be ads in US print media.

Those are basic stuff but I have to give them credit for not overcharging their customers.

I have seen a sailor khaki and I actually like it. I may purchase it.

I have never understood the supposed success announced in the press of this pairing prior to any collection launched but here we go.

This is smart, and Zac's been making necessary strides to revitalize American retail. No other American brands are doing this. Zac's sensibility for high fashion and his understanding of commercial appeal, especially with The Gap leading the charge on basics and American classicism, I am happy to see what he's done. Gap Studio is smart, and prices are very reasonable for everyday shoppers looking to feel part of the fashion circle. Which is fun. Accessibility is fine for commercial markets.

Bringing these girls into the fold, and utilizing Demi Moore for product placement on film premiere carpets here in The Bay Area, it's all been very smart. Success should be a slow build when reviving a house/brand/label. Zac is doing just that.

The comments about "basic" or "next" don't understand that the diminishing of commercial retail are actually a trickle effect of challenges that also hinder the luxury market. In the US, with tariffs and looming trade wars- a brand to seek revitalization and strategic redirection with a real fashion designer and not some no name, with no skin in the game, is actually brave.

The Gap was a leader, and should continue to uphold its position in American retail. It's a heritage brand, at its core. This is a fact; whether pioneering with their advertising commercials in the 90's or just the way that they made cool the classic elements of American style, it's a heritage brand with lots of history. Founded in San Francisco, it's a staple for many. Maybe not those who are striving to be something or make snarky remarks in this thread; but in bigger business, it's a corporation.

Very well priced, the models all just turned 19 in Poland, and I see several of the better items are sold out. Always have a soft spot for Gap and I’m glad to see they seem to be turning things around a bit.

I actually like the collection. Also love what Zac has been doing at Gap and GAP inc. Clothes look well made.

The quality is nearly on the same level with Shein now. I won’t appreciate that.
I remember when I was an intern in NYC many years ago a designer/businessman compliment on the jeans I wore and asked where they came from, he was so surprised to learn it was from GAP. Probably I seldom work with US brands or bother to visit their stores. I have no idea GAP has become the US shein. It is really quite sad to see there is really nothing left in fashion for average customers.

Has it? I’ve never had a problem with their merino wool sweaters, which is all I typically buy.
The stuff I bought lost the quality quickly, mostly basic lines such as chinos, shirts and hoodies… Comparing GAP to Shein is a bit exaggerated to be honest but I don’t get the quality GAP had decades ago.
