Some great pieces, that big fluffy white suit contraption on Magda is pretty stunning. I think I prefer his fall collections better though, when the mood is slightly darker.

And I'm so over his shoe.

Oh my................... :crush:

This is definitely a healthy move forward for GV,its still the same astheatic but with much more energy.Beautiful colour palette,i absoloutely love all the tunics, and the fact that he played with volume a tad more. And of course those stunning little party dresses at which he excelles.
BUT he is becoming extremely good with accessories. My god THOSE shoes, those shoes, similar to the last season but a tad more controlled, they are a garanteed hit.
In this time when Valentino is retiring, its so reassuring to see that someone else could possibly take his place in the future.

I think that we need designers like that, some say its boring, but i never. The world needs beautiful desings that dont conform to fashion trends, but are consistant and still bespeake an elegant, casual way of dressing. More importantly, this affectionately rendered volume reminds us of a kinder, gentler way of life.

seanbutter thanks so much for posting the entire collection.

Not even lying when I say this, my first thought was a giant "ewww"

It's like Valley of the Dolls vomitted on a runway.

An exercise in ambivalence for a man trained by a couturier known for his frou-fro and fanciful gowns. For this collection, the strongest looks are the ones that sway away from Valli's expertise in volume and grandeur.

:yuk: Blech. I think the collection belongs in a trailer court in Reno, and that is not a good thing. No offense to the trailer court folks, by the way.

PARIS, October 4, 2007 – Giambattista Valli always has a particular woman in mind when he starts his collection. This season, it was Veruschka in her desert mode, which (partially) explained his opening caftan shape, caught in at the ankles as an all-in-one. Valli had also been inspired by a research trip to Jordan (it may be significant that Queen Rania is a known client of his), where he was stunned by the sights of ancient Petra and the brilliance of flowers blooming against the dusty noncolors of the landscape.

Valli doesn't really come from high concept, though. His are couture-based skills, and from his close relationships with a refined crowd of international clients—a flock of whom crowded the backstage area to congratulate him—he has learned how to meld Parisian luxe into socially appropriate, climate-aware dressing for places where women want to look very special indeed. What that means is: He's worked out how to deal lightly with volume, surface embellishment, and color that looks good in the sun. All those qualities came through in his use of pretty white organza and chiffon, minutely pleated into short full-skirted dresses; shots of neon lime and fuchsia, occasionally backlit with streaks of gold; and crunchy patches of stone embroideries. If his desert Veruschka theme didn't really hold throughout the collection, well, never mind. The customers he's talking to hardly need concept to validate a drifty, strapless georgette Valli gown. It is what it is: specifically targeted service, well done.

the collection was divine... its very Giambattista and the colours appealing for high summer. i can see his customers already very happy.
however, the accessories were not realistic. the range was a mix between pre collection and main and the platforms really not something you can get in different colourways to stock (from a store point of view)
i do really like the pink neon platforms though ;)

The shoes are to die for, especially the white ones with the pink platform. Though walking in them must be a pain.

I also think the shoes are quite sweet but incredibly impractical. Not from a walking point of view since they actually look fairly comfortable but they just really are not something one could wear very often in my opinion unless you are the type to go to invents. Didn't he name one after victoria beckham for this season ?

Victoria Beckham was, of course, the first to wear The Victoria Shoe by Italian fashion designer Giambattista Valli during her Elle Magazine photo shoot.
“They are gorgeous,” Victoria blogged earlier this morning. “I will just have to learn how to walk in them first they are so high!”
It looks like the heels for The Victoria Shoe are 6″ high… and they have super high platforms as well!
FYI: Posh also wore black versions of The Victoria Shoe with her Margiela outfit earlier today.

i'm in luv with the colour pallete! especially the 'muted' hot pink...it's not totally neon/fluorescent but it's still bright enough so that it pops. oooooh and the shoes are killer! very "stripperish" but super hot!
