Not as bad as I expected. I'm reserving final judgement for later, though...

Oh god, he's copying the comme jackets from this winter!!! Actually to be fair, I have thought that some of those comme jackets were a little armani-like!

He's not shy either is he? Those first pictures....

I have yet to like anything of his from recent years. His use of pattern is just not attractive to me, and I love patterns and prints.

Helena, do you notice that one of the Emporio jkt has almost the same pattern as H+ for SS05?:-)

It is not as bad as I expected it to be either,
In general I love those kinds of knit jackets.. comme has done them, LUC, and now armani.

knowing black label, those knit jackets are going to be ridiculously expensive

Got to admit to a wee bit of a soft spot for Armani menswear. Although i don't wear any of it now, it was my introduction to fashion really, and I still find it appealling in some ways. My first "fashion fantasy" was to have a black label armani suit (I probably had this fantasy when I was about 15, which is kind of pathetic - rock'n'roll!). Of course, this collection is more or less like the last - he may as well be a computer programme by now. But he IS very good at it. The fabrics are lovely and the basic shape - tight jacket and loose trousers - is essentially flattering to men, and no one does it better than Armani. There are a lot of nice pieces in this collection. Bizarrely it is quite influenced by the comme winter 04 collection - the knitted jackets and the high sheen velvet shrunken jackets - but I think Giorgio is a secret fan of Rei. I remember years ago reading an interview with him and him being asked which other designers he admired. First on his list was CDG, and I remember the reason he gave - "they cut out the fuss". This is a concept obviously appealling to Armani, but one that comme have somewhat moved on from (Pink Panther!!). He still seems to cast a glance in their direction though....

mdankwah do you mostly post pics of gettyimages.com cause I notice that I cannot see most of the pics you posted...and not only in this topic.

Thanks Johnny, v. nice spot.

I might have an anticipation towards Armani but when I see he doing pattern, prints or drapes I always see that it is kind of "a wrong way":-) They look too easy, or too simple, very uninteresting and trying too hard. It seems like he hasn't got Rei's hands to do it in a quirky, but unexpected and beautiful way.

I like his "normal" jkts:-), plain, with good fit. They look really good and I don't doubt about the quality or material. But everytimes he tris to make it artsy or edgy, it looks just "wrong":-)

What is with the propotion, and the black "lines":-)
