Givenchy S/S 06 Paris + LOOKBOOK

:woot: this lookbook does so much more justice to this collection..

thanks so much for bringing this in brian
(we had to merge with existing thread in order to keep this collection under one roof )

I think Tisci has the aptitude of becoming a creative director at a brand with a rich history, but it's prob. too much too soon for him. His first ready-to-wear collection for Givenchy, while beautiful, reveals that his presentation skills still need to be finetuned. The makeup is distracting, the shoes are contradictory to the clothes, and his pencil skirts and gowns are a bit nondescript. With all of Paris loving the glamour of YSL, Balenciaga, Rochas, and Lanvin, Givenchy needs to up the glamour quotient to steal a bit of their thunder.

I couldn´t agree more... All of this looks very contrived and uncomfortable for me... the high-waisted leather shorts, the impossibly-tight pencil skirts, the gross, chunky shoes (those should be on my list of the worst shoes ever to be designed by a high-end designer), I really wonder who´s going to wear all that... which ultimately leads me to the thought that he´s the type of designer who is solely designing for his own, selfish fantasy but not to serve and dress a woman. He would have probably avoided creating some abominations here and there...

This is unbelievably gorgeous
Thanks everyone for pictures
The runway photos aren't showing up for me, however
Here are some photos I found on modanews.com
