Givenchy S/S 2020 : Charlotte Rampling & Marc Jacobs by Craig McDean

I don't know about this....

All that embroidery and color and you shoot that video in black and white? why...

What on earth is this? Some try-hard performance art? And how random is it to feature Marc in their campaigns. It's all very puzzling.
And I'm sorry to say, but whatever Charlotte is wearing looks terribly unflattering.

God, Marc is really living his Thespian fantasy here, the drama of that delivery.
Did Givency tap a Prada intern for this concept, I mean it seems their vein of pseudo- intellectual nonsense.

This just feels like something Ricardo would do when he was still at the helm.

No, no, no. I can not take Marc seriously when his hair is looking like... that. It's disturbing!
Although it makes no sense to me to tap other designers for your campaigns instead of models, Riccardo did it better with Donatella.

I mean you are coming after Donatella posing for Riccardo!
This is trying too hard to be iconic...In a lame way.
The magic about Donatella was that Versace is not LVMH. And Charlotte is fine but she has posed for Loewe already...

This is the definition of Non-event. And with things like that, impossible to escape the legacy of Riccardo.

Marc has become the worst type of attention seeker in these past couple of years.
His mom abandoned him. He grew up without the attention of a mother so he’s using the industry attention to make up for it. It shows. He’s so spoiled.

He still comes across more humble than most of the other designers out there. He’s one of the few that acknowledges other talents whether new or old and he even endorses them on his own social media platform. I don’t find his exposure as obscene as let’s say Jason Wu or Olivier R..r...whatever his last name is.

It wasn’t like he walked over to CWK and asked to be a part of the campaign, I’m sure Claire has a special connection with Marc Jacobs and felt honored to face him on the campaign! Now I’m not admitting the campaign is good (Ricardo did it a little bit better when he faced Donatella for Givenchy a couple of seasons ago) but honestly Marc is a respectable person, whom I don’t find too highly egotistical of the designer bunch.

I'm all for entertainment and irony but that is very dense. God knows what goes on for him for real. But the thirst for attention seems real.

That said, I wish somebody like Philip Lorca Dicorcia or somebody would have shot Charlotte for this. That would deliver me some severe Givenchyfeels. Solo of course. Certainly not Marc rubbing his knob looking like ventriloquist puppet from the Weimar Republic.

What. On. Earth. Is. This?

It’s insane when you realize the people who run things are as clueless and as out of touch as they actually are.

They put out things like this and then wonder why on earth the industry is self-immolating.

They take a more mature woman and put her in a matronly outfit. Isn't that just peachy? Why is it impossible for some designers to really think outside the box? You have two characters with larger than life personalities yet you photograph them as if they were lifeless mannequins. At this point Clare has shown all the creativity she is capable of. She should do Coach, DVF, or even Longchamp. Paris is not on her level.
