Gloria Swanson

this is an absolutely impressive and extraordinary collection of pics,flyme2themoon:heart::flower:!!
i´e only seen one of her silent films- "queen kelly".it was a heavily cut version and the quality was rather bad too,so i couldn´t really get an objective impression...which is a pity becuase she must have been a strong actress judging from sunset boulevard.i found her performance as norma desmond so intense that it was almost frightening...
in a rather unusual tomboy-outfit ^_^

Original caption: Gloria Will Not Be Out Of Fashion.
Gloria Swanson, screen star, wearing the very latest in beach attire, the "wig bathing cap." It is made of black silk cords woven to form a bobbed hair effect, but with two long braids hanging down the sides. These are tightly wound around the head when in the water.

A picture made in her New York dressing room of Gloria Swanson, the glamorous screen star who is now making a personal appearance on the stage in Gotham. When told that her husband, Michael Farmer, now in Paris, had tacitly admitted they had separated, Miss Swanson seemed upset. She said that when they had separated recently, she did not know that it was for good. Mr. Farmer said if any divorce action was to be taken, it must be taken by his wife since his religion prevents his doing so.

The Glorious Gloria in a Glorious Gown. And now they are making dresses out of steel. Miss Gloria Swanson proves it. The plate from scrapped battleships had to be disposed of. So the successful bidders of our navy junk made an arrangement with the best dressmakers and costume designers in the country to use the metal. This is the result. The dress is made of cut steel plates, penny size, and steel chaining over an underdress of gray draping silk. The head ornament and single long earring are of the same material.
