They're really scraping the barrel now... Even the Gossip Girl characters have moved on from being meaningless 'it' girls. Now they're employing them:

ALEXA CHUNG has joined the cast of Gossip Girl. The British presenter began filming on set in New York yesterday, and will star alongside series regulars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester.
The 28-year-year old was spotted filming scenes for the sixth and final season of the hit US show, sporting full hair and makeup.
It's yet to be confirmed how many episodes Chung will be featuring in, and no character details have been released at present - so it's unclear as to whether she'll be making her acting debut, or appearing in a cameo role as herself.
The Vogue contributing editor moved to New York in 2009 to present TV show, It's On with Alexa Chung.

GG is a mess now

GG has been a mess since around the season they brought Clémence Poésy in.. not her fault, and I adore her, but a) she has about the same number of credentials as Alexa (hardly a talent on screen, lives off sporadic gigs as an "it" girl) and b) the plots continued to get more and more ridiculous from then on: secret revealed at some gala, Blair goes on 12 year-old mode, continual failed attempts to make Chuck look like a credible tycoon (pout and raspy voice bordering into comedy), Serena the bombshell that somehow.. mumbles; repeat x 4 in every episode.

Lydia Hearst also made an appearance. Oh and Taylor Momsen did plenty.

I'm just glad this is the final season.. they need to clear the room and give these type of series a rest for a while so the next generation can generate something that's well.. less noughties to say the least.

I don't think it's a good idea to cast her, but now I might actually tune in for an episode or two just to see whether Alexa can act, lol!

Oh, and thank god the series is finally ending. I think the last season I was really into was when Serena and that Teacher from her past were having some sort of love affair......yeah, that was a looooong time ago.

I saw Leighton Meester on the subway the other night and it made me realize I hadn't checked in on this thread in awhile.
GG is and has been ridiculous (in my opinion) for awhile, but it's my guilty pleasure to pop some popcorn on Monday nights and watch it. I plan on watching the final season, it's over after that anyway!
