Oh this is a great concept, I love it.

and they choose to blur the Chinese model twice How brilliant:ermm:

Yeah they'd make great covers but I don't like blurring of Wang!

Good for GQ China for being able to be so conceptual. But as a cover, it’s too conceptual— and kind of annoying.

It’s so funny how publications now have 50 covers an issue and that’s a marketable gimmick. If an editor couldn’t decide on a single cover 10 years ago, that person wouldn’t have a job and deemed incompetent. Being indecisive is now a desired trait… Yay?

A fashion magazine aimed at Chinese Men, and you blur out the face of the Chinese model on both covers? That's a fail.

^ It's not Vogue, but i know right?

Love the creativity here, but don't like the idea that they chose to blur out the same model for both covers.

Mmmm yeah way to go GQ Style China; that's gonna look real good in Wang Chen's modeling portfolio :(

Those two strategically blurred covers illustrate the in your face state of racism in the fashion industry like nothing else. Conceptual my @ss. This is disgusting.

It’s true that asian standards of the ideal beauty has generally always been that of the Western/ Caucasian features— that’s why all the premium cosmetic companies offer Asian-market only stuff like skin-whitening creams; and nose-jobs are in demand and Western (White) models are in demand for Asian countries.

There is this accepted form of institutionalized racism amongst the asian cultures— but no different than other cultures and races; I’ve worked for Black clients who have rejected models whom them have deemed "too dark", and Black models who've asked me to lighten their skin in post. But I don’t think there was anything intentionally malicious with this cover, just a poorly thought out, and poorly-executed concept. (maybe the Chinese photographer was looking at Maholy-Nagy and Man Ray images and wanted to copy their styles… You know, I always wished high-profile designers like Rei and Yohji would cast [more] Asian for their shows and campaigns, but I would only want to see that happen if they wanted to— not because of PC pressures. A topic for a whole other discussion!

No racism should be accepted Especially it is against your own people. They intentionally blur Wang, the Chinese model, TWICE They don't even think about take turns since they have 2 covers I'll say they don't even see this as offensive as it is. IF they are concerned that Wang is not this standard appealing male to general public they could have chosen other working models who do appeal to general public
However they didn't They just somehow decide to accept the racism and promote it as a Chinese publication

acceptance of status quo + ignorance = GQ Style China F/W 2015
