THE FRESH FACE: GRACE MAHARY
The latest segment in CR’s ongoing series profiling fashion’s rising stars

Grace Mahary first appeared on the catwalk for the Fall 2012 season and one year later, she appears to have become a regular at almost all the heavyweight shows. During the New York fashion week alone, Mahary walked in Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Reed Krakoff, and Theyskens’ Theory, among others. We expect to see her pop up again at several other major shows before the season ends Here, the Canadian-born stunner takes a moment to catch up with CR.

RUNWAY RETREAT “It’s hard to find a place and time to escape during fashion week. I just turn to a little yoga. A couple poses and breathing exercises, et voilà, I’m at ease again.”

FASHION WEEK VICE “Chocolate! I don’t even like it, but something about the chocolate in Paris is undeniable.”

THE FIRST TIME “I was in high school in Canada when I did my first fashion week. I had to straighten my naturally curly hair for many of the shows. All I remember was that when the new models were asked what was their biggest fear during this intense show week, they all said ‘tripping’ while I said, ‘Losing my hair!’”

MODEL BEHAVIOR “’It’s not about you, darling, it’s about the clothes.’ If I was ever nervous before a show, I would say this to myself.”

BEAUTY AND THE BEST “My beauty secret: Grape seed oil. It works wonders for your skin.”

OFF-DUTY LOOK “Right now, I’m loving my Givenchy purse because it’s neon orange and it pops!”
