I'm looking for a good skirt and so far not finding what I want ... but here are some interesting ones I've come across ... please post your finds!

(neimanmarcus.com)

Akris, black silk, tone on tone polka dots, a mere $2099.90 (that's $3000 folks)

Donna Karan, $695 (a comparative bargain, but available only in Petite/2)

More to come ...

I like the Donna Karan skirt. But it would only work on someone with very very slim hips.

btw, I think you mean 2999.90, no?

I guess actually I meant $2100 ... good thing I skipped the accounting major :p ;)

Actually the Donna Karan looks very wearable to me ... but I guess only for those who like their curves ;)

Oh don't get me wrong, I like my curves, but pleats and [whatever the correct english word for the deails of that skirt is] can be dangerous. ;)

donna karan designs specifically for women with curves...
so i think that skirt is intended for someone who has some and will flatter someone who doesn't---
so it will look good on most body types---
which pretty much explains why it is mostly sold out...;)

some of my fave skirts this spring are marni---
can't copy them off the website but you can see them here...

That Akris skirt is preposterously priced!!! I have the exact same skirt in high end silk and large pleats, but mine was merely a fraction, made by a tailor!!!! I am gobsmacked.

I love Marni skirts this season too, especially the ones with the elastic waistband. way to overpriced though.

this website uses flash also so I can't post pics but my favorite skirts are #27 and #45 in the spring 07 collection area. he puts layers together really well, its worth a look.

Took a look at Marni, and there *are* some nice ones ... I need to get over to Barney's & see what they have to try on. I think my favorite was oat iridescent gabardine for $519 ... I really didn't think the prices were too bad. A cut above contemporary pricing, but not in the designer stratosphere ...

Agree about Donna ... she is known for designing for her own curves I believe ;) Gucci's designer talks about designing for an ideal woman which seems so odd to me, as most women designers design for ... actual women :innocent:

I like it ... some of the pieces would be a challenge as I don't think I'm up for explaining to coworkers & relatives why one of my knees is showing but not the other :innocent: but also a number of things that are wearable even in my not so avant garde book ;)

i didn't think the marni prices were that bad either actually..
certainly not bargain prices---but when skirts at anthropologie can go up to $300...the marni prices actually seem appropriate...

but i really adore so much of the gary graham collection...
thank you so much for posting that lucky...

i love that --so UN-trendy!!...
:p

maybe I'm just pissed that most of the marni skirts are out of my size. :innocent:
