I've made an appointment for a facial peel called "Green Peel". It's supposedly very effective and all-natural. Not that "natural" always means it's good for you... I'm hoping it can smooth out some chicken-pox scars and generally improve my skin.

If anyone has already had one, please feel free to share!

Hey Tott-

This is the first time I've heard of this peel as well, but a quick search brought up some info that makes me a little suspicious of the treatment-- not that it would be harmful to you, but that it may not very effective.

This description of their product lists the ingredients as a "blend of natural (unspecified) herbs". I don't really like the idea the ingredients are not available anywhere-- as least I could not find them anywhere.:(

One could also call most chemical peels "natural", as most AHAs (alpha-hydroxy acids) commonly used in peels are derived form natural sources ( glycolic from sugar cane, lactic from milk, maltic from grapes, etc.), so an "all natural: peel is not necessarily unique. I figured it was a high-concentration of citric acid or one of the lesser used AHAs, but this description (and they both appear to be written by or approved by the manufacturer) claims that the peel is "acid-free" as well. This I really don't understand. If it is not an acid, than it will have either a neutral pH or an alkaline pH. I just don't see how something with a neutral or alkaline pH would be able to penetrate and help to exfoliate the skin (which is essentially loosing the bonds between the cells so they will shed). As far as I know, a substance needs to be acidic in order to penetrate deeply enough to do this.

AHAs have vey small molecules and are able to penetrate through the epidermis and are so very effective (it is also suggested that they can trigger the growth of new collagen and elastin). Essential plant oils are also very, very powerful and can pentrate the epidermis as well. The site says that the Green Peel will deliver powerful vitamins, herbs, enzymes, etc, into the skin to help exfoliation occur, yet if these herbs, etc. are not synthesized in any way they are much to big to be carry through the skin by the oils.

This could be an amazing treatment-- I'd love to have more info about it. Please write review about the treatment? :flower: :flower: See if you can get any info about the ingredients or pH from the person administering the peel, too;)

paprika, thanks; it's good to be sceptic... I don't really know how it works, but it seems like it's been around for something like 20 years here in Germany. I don't think it would've lasted that long if it's crap, but I'll soon know for myself...

I'll let you know what happens!

I am in agony.

This peel seems to be a glorified mechanical peel... They "massage" your skin with the goo, essentially peeling it. Ouchouchouch.

I just hope it's worth it.

awww poor you tott..and yes, please, let us know if it was worth it! :flower:

Thanks. Yes, poor me... :p

I'll let you know if it was worth it in a few days...

Okay... My skin is not really a lot different than before; a bit clearer I suppose. It's still adjusting and growing back, but not a lot has changed as far as I can tell. I might have unrealistic expectations though. I plan on getting a chemical peel in a while, because I want to compare the results as well as improve my skin.

Inconclusive, but slightly negative feedback on this. As of right now.

How you doing Totts?

Can we have another update - hopefully you'll be feeling better about it now?

I was thinking about the Obaji blue peel but am still unsure.

:flower:

Well... I think my skin is a bit smoother and clearer, but I'm not so sure it helped with the scarring. Maybe slightly. That could be because I'm observing my skin closer than ever and really focus on the imperfections... Over all, I think it has helped a bit actually!

Obaji is a chemical peel, right? I'll try a chemical in a few weeks time, it'll be interesting...

Hi everyone! I actually had a green peel a few days ago at the advice of my facialist. Well, not advice actually... she's got AMAZING skin but she used to have rosacea and acne scars.... I asked her how she got better and she mentioned green peels. I got it a few days ago and it hurt like all hell, but today (3 days later) my skin is starting to fall off (sounds bad, but it's a good thing!). Not all the old skin is off yet, but I can already tell that the scarring is a LOT better.... my face is a little red, with dark patches (the old skin) but I think it's going to be well worth it. I heard that it's huge in Europe, but is just getting big here in the US.

Hope this helps! :)
