Gucci Cruise 2024 Seoul

I guess it's a good idea to stick with your loyal Bushwicktards while you're in between a make or break vibe shift

Almost painful to scroll through on Vogue Runway to save and upload those images. What a truly dreadful collection, that did not warrant everyone's time and effort in traveling to South Korea. The sooner Gucci ditches this diabolical Michele aesthetic the better - for ALL of us!

I love It!
I think the chaotic styling of Suzanne Koller is fabulous and I enjoy those clothes…
For a studio collection, it’s much more achieved than whatever I saw at Chanel..

‘They are relying heavily on the Tom Ford archives and it’s obvious now that it’s impossible to Gucci without referencing his era (I’m curious to see how Peter Hawkings at Tom Ford will reclaim what is also part of his heritage) but the clothes for the majority are good.

Because so much of those clothes are new versions of archive, it has that kind of timeless quality.
I love the opening look, the pink coat on Karen Elson, the grey skirt with the SS99 embroideries, the chiffon gowns, the black shearling coat, the overall attitude…

The only real problem here is the accessories and the logos. The 2003 bag is good for what it is but as whole it’s quite tragic accessories. I would expect that they a great accessories team at a brand like Gucci.

Sales are slowing for them and while I love the clothes, billions aren’t going to be made with those clothes. And clearly, because of the mediocrity, they won’t be made out of those accessories…

What a disappointment. The fall collection was far more exciting and cohesive than this. I see a few good looks, but they’re overshadowed by the outdated streetwear. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t reference the actual archives of the house instead of this generic hype beast imitation. This type of clothing does not not belong at Gucci. The new designer is going to have to show a knockout debut to compensate for this mess.

I hope this aesthetic is not like the premise and prelude to Sabato's debut collection come September. :ninjas::judge: So many of the looks here are very much Instagram influencer bait. I must say though, this one and the fall collection have been slowly veering away from Alessandro's Gucci. Like you can see bits and pieces here and there of whatever he had put out over the past few years but they're also branching out onto something else.

^^^It's more likely just Susan desperately seeking/forced to be quirky for the brand-- after looking at some old Body Map and Ray Petri for The Face shoots.

Once separated from the obnoxious, too tryhard quirky styling, many of the womenswear is strong, and very sleek modern classics for adults: the crystal-embellished suiting; the glen-plaid suiting; Karen’s gorgeous opera coat; the leathers; the Karl’s Chanel boucle cropped jackets… The men’s on the other hand— sheesh, Bart Simpsons level of insufferable. Such a waste to not showcase actual menswear, instead of this infantile nonsense.

I wouldn’t say the mentioned positives are remotely impressive, since ultimately, it’s just very bourgeois staples dressed up with silly styling. But it’s good to see that glimmer of hope that the new direction will leave the outdated Alessandro aesthetic behind now.

I don't think that will the case. According to Sabato's Instagram, he has only arrived at Gucci two weeks ago (May 5), so I doubt that he's had any say in this collection. We might get a couple of glimpses into his vision for the menswear show in June, but the true verdict will be the womenswear show in September.

I personally think that he'll do something similar to Sialelli's Lanvin, but more broad in terms of product offering.
