Guo Pei is a female designer, not a male.

It’s kind of a relief that she is moving away from piling on heaps after heaps of embroidery works onto the creations. I have seen her works close up in an (ongoing) exhibition and I found her previous collections way too over the top (surprisingly her ‘Rihanna’ coat is very very underwhelming if you see it in person, while the rest are just jungles of beads, sequins and crystals with no meaningful purpose/explanation other than ‘I am doing a more-is-more just to shock you into talking about me’).

I am still not very impressed with how her team maintains the archive (there were fraying threads everywhere), and her heavy-handed usage of iron-on crystals (which fell out and were not promptly replaced, I could see the glue stains)...

Sadly some of these looks are very derivative of McQueen; like a student who just came across Lee's work.
