Hana Soukupova

Hi,

I have met Hana and she does not have a eating disorder and
to tell you the truth, I am 5'10 and 98 lbs.

And I am not anorexic, I do exercise excessivly but I
eat also.

To be honest, I don't know what it the final breaking
point when it comes to weight, I mean Jeisa C. is a
perfect example of that, and I saw a girl at Mochino who
looked like --death hung over--.

this is not a thread for ana hickman :yuk: sorry

another shot of miss soukupova. she looks ghastly.
OMG! She's defenitely ill  Why Oh Why they let her look like that?
They should tell her to check in a hospital instead of letting her on the catwalk, as if being a skeleton was appealing.
Sometimes the fashion world make me sick

I stand by what I said- her face looks awful in alot of backstage photos- sunken, especially when she smiles. She used to look better- and has either lost enough weight for it to show or something is going on (no fats in her diet, too tired, who knows)

It isn't an "accusation" of an eating disorder (i dont think you can "accuse" someone of having an illness!)- it is just an observation on her seriously decreased attractiveness. :(

I think she's quite sexy...if she wants to be thin that's her choice...I hope she doesn't ever try drugs though...
I guess it could be her choice, but then again, if one has an eating disorder, they don't think like you and I. It is a psychological disease. Sure, anyone can decide they want to lose weight, but some people simply cannot stop.

How people could be so insensitive to just assume she is starving herself!

I was talking to a girl who used to by Hana's roommate when hana was 14 14 14 14 , then I remembered this drama filled discussion topic and I asked her if hana was just as skinny. And she said she was as skinny now as she was at 14! And her legs are the exact same size.

BACK OFF from the girl.

And to blame the agencies.... . Yes agencies tell girls to lose weight, I was just one of them. But if I were to go insane crazy to lose weights, its MY MY MY decision and I CANNOT blame it on my agency.

Well, her legs DEFINITELY don't look the same now from one year back. Maybe she is as thin now as when she was 14, but she could have put on some weight over the years, and then lost it all again. And maybe, for that hypothetical reason, she looks sick. As someone said, we're not accusing the girl for having a disease, since it would be a cruel thing to do, but some of us are just pointing that she surely doesn't look as healthy now as she looked last year. I might be saying something stupid, but I usually can tell the difference between a healthy thin person and a sickly thin person by looking at their face. My bf is the thinnest person I know, and he's a 100% healthy, and anyone can tell that simply by looking at his face. It shows.

And plus, Hana is like what, 17? At this age, girls naturally put on some weight due to their hormones. I suspect that was the case with Jeisa. I remember when she turned 18, and she finally started looking like a woman, with larger hips, thighs and everything, and then, all of a sudden, the girl became a walking skeleton. I don't know where the pressure comes from, but I'm almost sure these girls might be "advised" by someone to lose some weight in order to still look like 14-year-olds. How many models out there look like regular women of the same age? I could count on my fingers.

Anyone can tell by looking at pictures that she has definitely lost weight since only 1 year ago! I don't think that anyone is trying to be insensitive..it is when you look at those pictures of her that really makes me feel sad. :( I also saw her at the shows last Feb. and yes her legs are long and thin, but they most definitely not that thin! I am not a doctor and am not diagnosing her with anything, but by looking at her skin just hanging on her..it makes me think that there is some sort of problem. I hate to assume things, but when you have seen her in person 1 year ago and see the pics now...thing have changed. I know that pictures can sometims be deceiving..I will see her in the shows next month and If she looks like these pics...I will be so sad.

I am not blaming the agencies, but hopefully someone will help her out if she continues to lose weight.

Well an explanation for how her weight may be the same could be that she's just toned up more...I'm not some exercise/nutrition wiz, but I know from personal experience that when I was working out and had more muscle, I was significantly thinner, but weighed the same, if not MORE than I do now after having stopped... I think people really need to back off on her. To conclude with such certainty that she has an EATING DISORDER based upon a few pictures, never having met her, is extremely judgmental in the WORST sense... Sure, she may be underweight... but what if she's just naturally skinny but just happened to lose some weight for modelling? I know several friends who would be considered severely underweight by doctors, but that's just how they're built! Furthermore, I'm sure it says SOMETHING that she still has the energy to jet about, doing shows and photo shoots with all her growing popularity... About a year ago I started fasting and dieting almost to the point of developing a serious problem and even when it wasn't as serious, I could never IMAGINE doing all of that! Even the littlest physical activity was absolutely EXHAUSTING... and an eating disorder is not to be taken so lightly as to be tossed about like that... Instead of throwing unfounded judgments... how about just being happy for the girl? She's a great model and a cute girl.. I'm happy for her success and wish her all the best in health and in her career.

Here's some of that non-insenstive language that's been used in both Hana threads so far:

"walking skeleton"
"scary"
"horrifying"
"disgusting"
"check her in a hospital"
"walks like a ******"
"modelexia"
"Ethiopian legs"

very nicely said. haven't thought of some of your points that way before :flower:

My sister was on the verge of getting anorexic some years ago - when she, very quickly, I must say, lost about 70 lbs - and it didn't keep her from her habits. She was still able to do her workouts and go to college, even though she was almost sick. I was watching an interesting documentary about ED's some days ago called "Dying to be thin" and they showed the story of an NY ballet dancer that was anorexic. Even at the height of her illness she was practicing. So I don't believe it's right to say that it's impossible to be anorexic and not faint at any minute or be able to do simple things like walking too much or exercising. I think it depends on the person's metabolism and on what they are still eating. My sister used to eat lots of fruits, vegetables and cereals, so, even though it wasn't enough to make her healthy, she chose the right stuff.

I've seen this too and it's not one of NOVA's more impartial documentaries.

We've got Ruth Striegal-Moore, a psychology professor (not a medical doctor) from Wesleyan University giving her opinions. Hmm, she hates everything about modeling anyway. Next is Joan Jacobs Brumbery who is on this program because she is selling her book Fasting Girls. On top of all this, Susan Sarandon's narration is filled with loaded words. This show had a feminist agenda that finds fault with women parading about that aren't "average."

Excellent point about Hana.

The arguments I made are just possibilities... in favor of Hana. Why? Because why are we here throwing about NEGATIVE judgments about somebody we do not personally know? Why must it be argued and "declared" that she has an eating disorder? I recognize that it is important to root out negative messages from the media and the fashion industry; however, we should be aware that the negative comments here are merely assumptions based entirely upon judgments on APPEARANCES... Exposing the dangers of eating disorders should not come about by being judgmental or cynical... Let's not be so negative here... :innocent:

Hi,
have any of yo actually thought of the impact of hanas now very tiresome schedule compared to a year ago. The girl is in every single show and mag imaginable. What do you think ahppens to someone who sleeps on planes and only ever eats plane food or the food they provide at shows (yeah mini sandwiches and fruit...yummy). Yes they lose weight , their faces look drawn and they get bags under their eyes . When models get the chance for holidays they take it . And im sure hana ran off home to her czech family this christmas to eat lots of dumplings.
Dont ever assume that people inflict weight loss onto themselves . its not fair. i mean shes not here to tell you otherwise.

she looks sickening. this is my opinion,i don't feel the need to voice anybody else's. others may think she looks great. ok.
some people really need to get a reality check. all this self-inflicted pc-ness is hilarious. does hana give a damn about what we think? she's en route to make millions with her doe-eyed, hollow stare. so i assume she could care less about what people on this board have to say. if she does, bad luck.

Man, I would just loooove to see how some of you people look. It's very easy for people to throw around insults and blind judgements, but even easier for them to disguise them as personal opinions :yuk:

It's funny how skinny people will call another skinny person anorexic, and how a fat person will call another fat person obese. WTF?!

to nikos.
I wanst making a comment towards people like you who simply dont like the way she looks. Thats fair enough, but i find it a bit shocking and it makes me uncomfortable to see how quickly people make judgements on others, and medical ones at that that they simply arnt intintled to make. and as for hana not caring well your right she probably doenst but my point was how can you tell if someone is anorexic if you dont personnally know them.

Yes, actually, I brought that possiblity up when I said "maybe she is just tired".

Please- we are not all making personal attacks. :innocent: The drama should end... Blah.

It's quite possible that the people making the rudest remarks are overweight or not happy with their fleshy thighs.
