i just loved reading this and seeing the works he created. is precisely the passion i've had for many moons and will continue to bode.

Since last season, Naoki has been reflecting on what interests him the most and how to express and find his own identity. He discovered what really interests him is the craft and the value and the importance of doing things by hand. Although traditional techniques and precise tailoring are essential to Naoki he has also spent his career researching innovative ways to develop different textiles.

Over the past few years there has been a great debate about whether luxury brands in fact have anything at all to do with real luxury. Naoki exposes real luxury by utilizing artisanal techniques combined with experimentation with innovative textiles. The garments are constructed and finished by hand and Naoki urges you to look at the inside construction as well as the outer finish of the garment. I was impressed by both his passion and his devotion to the craft and construction of each of the garments. Men's wear techniques are applied to a simple pleated dress creating it's volume by the use of inserted strips of horsehair. Horsehair is a traditional interfacing used in men's tailoring. He incorporates it both inside and outside of the garment.

A delicate feather motif is drawn by hand with a metal brush traditionally used in the ancient technique of kimono painting from Kyoto. One jacket made of the finest gauge of polyester is then layered with a transparent veil. In other words, the feathers are not painted on the surface of the garment but are drawn on the layer of fabric under the protective transparent veil.

Naoki explained how a nylon thermal thread was woven into the textile to produce warmth while keeping the fabric light. 80% of the fabrics for the collection have been developed for Naoki in Japan.

thanks scott. those feather jackets are beautiful.

i think luxury to be worth it now days has to be more than just the name. he is smart to focus on both craft and technology. it's the only way i can justify a pricey purchase...it's either got to be a mind blowing vintage one of a kind piece or a piece that performs like a north face jacket. having two in one would be ideal.

I'd love to get my hands on any of these pieces.. amazing techniques, really.. :crush:

many, many thanks scott! :P
that one with thermal nylon is so interesting..
i'd also love to see what the horsehair facing looks like

recently i purchased some nylon and it is so soft.. my friend thought it was mohair  it's nice how versatile these artificial fibers can be...

anyway i hope they create a website to show all the information for this label, so it's easier access
(is it even a label? or just a one-time show..?)

it's a label...i dunno if it's an extension collection from his signature or if he's designing under 'hand stitch' now?

maybe hand stitch under/from naoki takizawa
this label does even prefall/resort thing.
some more from a tokyo showroom

Thanks for posting, Scott. Everything's just heavenly, esp the feather motif pieces

you're welcome,kiddo!

thank you too for those runner. his jackets are really just stunning to me. the cutting in that first piece is beautiful. and the feather jacket looks even more alive on the model. i really like those pieces too.

Thanks for posting Scott & Runner...
The first pictures roused me very little -
the 2nd batch, however, is impressively done...
Not has esoterically gorgeous as his spring debut,
but still a very solid, very well-made, inspired effort from Mr. Takizawa...

Thanks Scott, really, these pieces are geniunely amazing and interesting. I would like to know did he dod everything himself or he had the help of other, either way, i am in awe of the clothing

well,i know of designers like jurgi persoons and i think margiela with his artisanal, worked with a team to construct....then they would themselves hand finish everything else....i have a feeling naoki is the same.

It's really inspiring to see a designer who is doing finely crafted and detailed clothing with very modern fabrics. I just wish I could admire them in person!

Thanks for posting the pics Scott and Runner.

This really resonates with me. Value, and quality. Thanks for sharing Scott, you always have great contributions :flower:

I wonder is this a different line?

The clothes in post #2 & #3 are really wonderful, especially the feather motif jacket..the craftsmanship is so high that it can be classified as haute couture, Naoki is a true genius!
