Harper’s Bazaar Australia September 2019 : Carolyn Murphy by Darren McDonald

Y'all criticizing me because I don't like this 90's model but nobody likes this cover anyway. So what's the point of this discussion?

No, I am not happy and I did not call you out for my own satisfaction, I did it because I find it completely rude to dislike a certain group of people simply because they are ''old'' by your standards. No one's calling you out for your opinion but the way you said it which is disrespectful. You can question Carolyn's icon status but to question it simply because she's not a recent discovery? Don't you agree that Twiggy is an icon? Audrey Hepburn? Avedon? Newton? All of them ''old'', most of them dead. But they all left a memorable impact which is why they are iconic and treated with well deserved respect for their contribution to the industry.
Again, of course you are allowed to express your opinions but next time think before your write because it's not okay to be disrespectful to people based on their age and years spent in the business.

Try again and harder because what you are saying is so elaborate. I never said anything like that.

Want to see Perickles lose his cool? Just glorify Rianne!

I like the first cover with better art direction, but not the 2nd one. Darren is actually behind all the HB Australian cover shoots we've liked over the years. He's way more effective with his Linbergh-esque set and location though. Glad to see him still working under the new EIC, but I guess that's all down to the styling team which didn't really change since she took charge, and the fact that the photographer pool in Australia is relatively smaller.

As for the matter of Carolyn, I'm faintly indifferent to her, but I'd be hard-pressed to recall a truly awful edit of hers. Plus, unlike Claudia, Christy, or even Kate, she's been consistently present in fashion print over the years, that I don't even regard her as a 90s model. With the others we only see them when editors want a 'throwback' cover, or looking to make waves.

Carolyn is so stunning. Bazaar Au did her well. A true icon indeed. Rather see this than Carine’s faux icons editorial. Icon who?

Also, I’d gladly welcome seeing more of these true and legendary icons since none of the models of recent past would ever reach iconic status.

The word icon is always related to old things. Get rid of models from past generations, this is our generation we want to see cool girls and boys of this time.
Every last one of your post I come across is complaints about the original supermodels of the 90s. If you hate them that much then why click on threads with their titles?

Also, your point of view on a models career span is backwards. You’re suggesting models shouldnt work after a certain age? Grow up!

Who do you think you are to tell me what should I say or not? I have my own opinion and I am very happy and proud that is different from yours. Respect it.

I mean you told me to STOP saying whatever I was saying - that's imperative mood.
Maybe next time try to express your opinions more clearly (or eloquently) because I might have misread some of what you said but I don't seem to be the only one.
Okay, let's not argue and chill.

Loving the portrait cover! So unusual.

Young doesn’t make you cool neither being older or old makes you less cool than anyone else. It is all about who you are and I personally think Carolyn is super cool!

Agreed plus many of the new cool people are not that inspiring anyway. That said, its a stunning shot but the hand placement doesnt make sense at all.

The editorials are just as bad as the cover and the super original idea of calling a 90's supermodel. They are always there when they run out of ideas. Which is very often.

Carolyn’s ed is super chic but the rest is underwhelming.

Awww I love it - especially as Carolyn was on the cover of the very first fashion magazine I bought. She's also been a long time favourite of Kirstie Clements (former Vogue Aus EIC and current HB Aus features director). My only complaint is we see too many B&W or extremely colourless covers from HB Australia, i find them more impactful when they're done more sparingly. Once again, they have the good sense to hide the ultra-cheesy 'icons' portfolio.

You mean from the covers? Who in their right mind would pass on an exclusive Carolyn Murphy in favour of Carine's Icons?

Btw, the Icons edit does appear in this issue, as is compulsory with all the Bazaars. In fact, the fashion content starts with the Icons edit.
