Hi guys,

I didn't know where to put this thread so I posted it here since it seemed like it would make the most sense. Anyways I was wondering if it was possible to get alterations done on jeans, specifically I am referring to shrinking down the waist size (I need to get the waist to go down from the current 33, which currently feels more like a 34 maybe even a 35, to a 32 or your standard 33). I know jeans can usually be hemmed and all that, but I don't think I've heard of people having the waist altered, since they're not like your usual dress pants and all that with the different fabrics. Oh yeah, the material for the jeans I am referring to is cotton, your usual denim...any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

it depends on the pair... and its design...
usually it can be altered.... but you have to find a really good seamtress...
ive had it done before..
but half the time the jeans were ruined because the shape looked awkward after the alteration.... :(

Thanks for the info...now that you mention it, I probably won't be getting these jeans altered because there's actually quite a lot of details and I have a feeling some of it will be lost if i alter the pants.

The reason I wanted to get them altered was because when I wear a belt, the hook that fastens (this is located where the top button normally is) seems to come undone whenever I sit down, creating an unattractive bulge in the fly region when I stand back up. This probably wouldn't be a problem if it was a button instead of that hook, oh well I guess it's only a minor problem and most people don't look there anyways!

way too difficult to alter the waist FTB. What about replacing the hook with a button or snap? Is it a trouser slide? stitched on attached by machine?

I am really feeling the baggy jeans thing right now anyways. Maybe it's the idea of proportion like what Raf S showed on the runway with the baggy bottom/small top....even JLindeberg showed that look, baggy jeans with shirt, waistcoat, fitted blazer.

Now completely off your subject:

I want to know how people are altering jeans to fit slimmer...Somebody said they had a pair of Sevens made to fit like Dior Homme...can't remember who.....I'm good, but can't even begin to figure out how to do that.

Thanks for the comments and advice, Chris.

The jeans of mine I am talking about have that trouser slide, yes...and maybe it's just an obsessive thought, since the rest of the jeans fit so well and even the waist is fine as I don't have to wear the belt too tight or anything, it's just that one little detail of the slide undoing itself that irks me! I think your suggestion of replacing the snap with a button is a good idea and will reduce frustration on my part, but I don't want to alter the creator's vision

As for the Sevens, I believe that was Chinorlz who got them altered. I'm not sure if he got them to be slimmer, I think he was talking about altering the hem so that it's long and bunched up like Dior jeans. I could be wrong though, I don't remember the exact post except for that one bit.

"but I don't want to alter the creator's vision"

send 'em my way...I've never shyed away from altering somebody else's work:lol:besides then they're "yours":flower:

seriously though, when things frustrate me like that I don't wear them until I solve the problem....
