Meet Hedi Ben Tekaya, the hottest male model of the moment
Everything you need to know about the supermodel is here.
By Alexandre Marain
March 14, 2025
If there's one thing Hedi Ben Tekaya is proud of, it's his multicultural background: "I was lucky enough to grow up between three countries: Tunisia, Spain, and Switzerland. This equation taught me discipline and instilled in me a creative energy that shaped who I am today." Growing up, the young man never imagined he'd become one of the most sought-after male models. For him, it all started with an impromptu photoshoot on his home turf, in Tunisia: "The photographer, impressed, suggested I try my luck internationally and put me in touch with an agent in Paris, who is still by my side today." From then on, things quickly moved on: in June 2022, he walked his very first catwalk for Thom Browne. An experience that was both "terrifying and exhilarating" and allowed him to walk for major fashion houses such as Versace, Bottega Veneta, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton. A true consecration… But when we talk to him about his future, the one who was named Model of the Year 2024 by the public of models.com keeps his feet anchored on the ground and his head on his shoulders: “I am excited about the idea of continuing my career while exploring new opportunities, whether it is fashion or other. I would like to collaborate with innovative designers and participate in projects that push the boundaries of creativity.” That’s all we wish for him!
Meet male model Hedi Ben Tekaya
How did it all begin?
Hedi Ben Tekaya. "It all started in Tunisia during an impromptu photo shoot. The photographer, impressed, suggested I try my luck internationally and put me in touch with an agent in Paris, who is still by my side today. At the time, I knew nothing about the industry, but my curiosity and open-mindedness pushed me to seize the opportunity. This experience taught me that sometimes you just have to believe in yourself and go for it, even if it seems intimidating at first.
Tell us about your very first fashion show. What memories do you have of it?
It was in June 2022, for Thom Browne in Paris. It was both terrifying and exhilarating. The adrenaline rush just before walking on the runway is indescribable. Once on stage, everything seemed surreal, as if time had stood still. That moment taught me the importance of staying focused and trusting yourself.
What drives you in modeling today?
What excites me most is the people I meet. Every day, I have the opportunity to collaborate with talented people: photographers, stylists, models, production teams, and even catering staff. I enjoy interacting with everyone, regardless of their role, and learning from their experiences. These interactions enrich me both personally and professionally. I feel like I'm entering a new world with each project, interpreting different artistic visions. It's a privilege to bring the creativity of designers and artists to life. Imagining how far I can go in this field pushes me to dream bigger and bigger. I see every day as a new opportunity to push my limits and write the next chapter of my story.
What do you think sets you apart from other models?
I would say my personality and simplicity set me apart. I strive to remain authentic in all circumstances. I enjoy connecting with everyone, whether on set, backstage, or outside of work. I believe this openness and sincerity create genuine human connections, beyond appearances or the roles we play. I've never felt the need to highlight my achievements; I prefer to let my work speak for itself. Rather than comparing myself to others, I focus on my own growth and what I can uniquely bring to each project.
What challenges have you encountered in your career, and how did you overcome them?
Rejection is never easy. In fashion, it's common because you're not necessarily a good fit for every project. I've learned not to take rejection personally and to continue working hard to improve myself. Another major challenge has been learning to balance my professional and personal life. Modeling requires a lot of sacrifices: frequent travel, unpredictable schedules, and constant pressure. I've had to find ways to refocus, whether through meditation, exercise, or simply taking time for myself and my loved ones. This has taught me the importance of setting boundaries and taking care of my mental health as much as my career.
What are the highlights of your career?
The Louis Vuitton show on the Pont Neuf. It was the first under Pharrell Williams' direction. Walking for Versace and appearing in campaigns for brands like Bottega Veneta and Armani are also among my fondest memories. As is traveling. Discovering incredible places around the world while working is a unique privilege. These experiences remind me how enriching this profession can be, both professionally and personally. They fuel my desire to continue exploring and pushing my limits.
Is there a person or experience that has particularly inspired you in your life or career?
My family is my main source of inspiration. My parents instilled in me perseverance and the importance of believing in yourself. Their unwavering support has enabled me to overcome many obstacles. My siblings are also pillars in my life, always ready to advise and encourage me. Their wisdom and perspective help me remain confident and move forward, even in the face of challenges.
How do you perceive the evolution of fashion in recent years, particularly in terms of diversity and inclusivity?
Fashion has made notable progress, although there is still a long way to go. Representing all body types, ethnicities, and identities is essential to inspire new generations. By embracing inclusivity, fashion allows everyone to feel seen and represented, strengthening the bond between fashion and those who experience it.
How do you handle the pressure of image in this highly competitive industry?
It can be difficult, but I strive to stay true to myself and my values. I don't let appearances define who I am. For me, the most important thing is to maintain a healthy perspective and not get lost in what others think. I focus on what I love about this job, keeping in mind that each project is an opportunity to grow and evolve. This approach allows me to stay grounded and not be overwhelmed by external expectations.
What does your daily life look like?
It's a mix of travel, photoshoots, and relaxation. Not having a routine can be unsettling, but it also offers great flexibility. If I always stayed in the same place, I'd probably see my loved ones less often. I also make time to explore different passions and try new activities, which allows me to step out of my comfort zone and grow.
Which artist represents a constant source of inspiration for you?
I draw inspiration from different artists depending on the moment I'm going through. I appreciate those whose work defies convention and shows that it's possible to stay true to yourself while evolving. Inspiration can come from many directions, and I find that each artist has something unique to offer, whether through their creativity, work ethic, or authenticity.
You were named Model of the Year 2024 by the public of Models.com. What does this title represent?
It's a tremendous honor. This title represents a deep sense of pride, not only for me, but also for the support I've received from my native country, Tunisia. My roots and culture play an important role in my journey. This title also goes to my team, my agents, and everyone who has supported me from the beginning.
Apart from modeling, what are your interests?
I love spending time with my friends to relax and recharge. I also take charity trips to help the most disadvantaged people in developing countries. These experiences allow me to give back while learning a lot from others. My passions vary depending on the season. For example, right now, I'm very interested in remote-controlled aircraft. I love using my drone, especially when traveling, to explore places from a completely different perspective.
What would you change in the fashion industry if you could?
I would introduce better regulations regarding mental and physical health, not only for models, but also for all the professionals involved, such as hairstylists, makeup artists, production staff, and other team members. It's crucial to create a respectful and caring work environment, where everyone, regardless of their role, feels supported and valued. Pressure is omnipresent in this industry, and it's important to promote more sustainable and humane practices for everyone who works in it.
What advice would you give to a young model just starting out?
Stay true to yourself and never let anyone define your worth. Modeling can be a demanding and sometimes uncertain profession, but with hard work, patience, and careful attention to your well-being, it's possible to fully flourish in this industry. I also recommend viewing modeling as a great opportunity, but not pinning all your hopes on it. This profession, as rewarding as it is, can be unpredictable.
What are your personal and professional plans?
I'm excited to continue my modeling career while exploring new opportunities in the fashion industry and beyond. I'd like to collaborate with innovative designers and participate in projects that push the boundaries of creativity. Additionally, I'd like to become more involved in philanthropic initiatives, using my platform to support causes close to my heart, including education and equal opportunity. I am open to expanding my professional horizons, whether that means exploring design, photography, or even launching my own clothing line."
