and some info
vogue.com.au via FlashbangChanel’s Global Creative Director of Make-up, Peter Philips, has sparked the glitterbug trend with his limited edition Orient Extreme collection. The black-and-molten-gold themed make-up line, created especially for Karl Lagerfeld’s Paris-Shanghai Métiers d'Art Pre-Fall showing last December, combines the contrasting hues across four indulgent products for eyes and nails.
“The idea of this collection is to play with contrasts and light,” Philips says. “Rich, noble and luxurious gold reflects the light, while velvety black absorbs it.”
For eyes there’s the Ligne et Ombre de Chanel in Jet-Gold, $88, a dual purpose eye palette that’s part matte black liner, part gold sparkly shadow which Philips swept across models’ lids before creating a strong graphic line that flicked towards the temples.
Continuing the black-gold theme, Philips devised a new take on the traditional French manicure starting with Le Vernis in Gold Lamé, $39, as the solid gold base, he then traced tips with the inky matte Black Velvet lacquer, $39, and sealed the look with Illusion d'Or, $39, a transparent polish with subtle gold-flecks.
The Chanel Orient Extreme collection is available exclusively from the Chanel Make-up Studio, Myer Sydney from May 16. Stockists: 1300 242 635.
