Help Me Marry Tom Ford!

this is my first post... hello everyone!

i am getting married and we've decided to wear shades of red at our very nontraditional ceremony/celebration... the guests, in return, will be dressed in only black and/or white.

my dress is bright bright red but the problem is finding a red jacket (not necessarily a tux) for my boyfriend. i found this picture of tom ford and will use it as inspiration. does anyone know where he can find a similar jacket? it should fit super snug- he is tall and very slim.

i find it is difficult enough finding a black velvet jacket... but red? am i asking for too much?

recommendations in l.a. would be great! help me marry my own tom ford!!!

Hmm..If u can afford the actual YSL, it would be the most accurate choice... I dont knwo... This sounds bad, but I've done it myself, when you want to find funky and old skool jackets like that, you might wanna check on small tux rental stores, they will have styles like that and stuff of that sort... I don't know, I have a vintage Balenciaga black velvet blazer, I got it for really cheap at C. Madelines, which is a designer vintage store... I agree with Ale, go with YSL if you can afford it. If not, start scouring the thrift stores and checking out the tux rentals. I'm sure there are some very good vintage stores in LA that you could tell them what you're looking for and a budget and they will be able to find it. I currently have three wonderful vintage boutiques looking for a small white tuxedo jacket for me. Isn't Decades in LA? Is Aardvark still around? That would be a great start.

i would love to afford ysl but- sigh- don't think that would work. gucci has a wonderful blue velvet and i hear a red will also be available soon but the price tag is nearly $2200 for the jacket alone... i'll be sure to check decades but where is c.madelines?

I would sugest Decades,aardvarks, wasteland & jet rag

Scout is an amazing amazing store but i woudl nto suges for vintage, although they ahve it, it's more for avant garde/alternitive deisgners

the title of the thread... as in 'help me marry my own version of tom ford' as in my boyfriend wants to wear THAT tuxedo jacket that tom ford is wearing in the picture...

if vintage doesn't work out for you, you may want to consider a bridge line like just cavalli, d & g, or valentino RED. though pricier than vintage, at least you may have better luck getting a quality garment. most vintage velvet blazers i've seen look...well vintage...which is good if you are wearing them casually, but for a wedding you might want think twice.

if you're not getting married before the year's end you might try to capitalize on some of the sales these stores will have. it might drop a velvet blazer from one of these fashiony houses down to a more reasonable five or six hundred.

we were unsuccessful in finding the right shade of red...
so we bought a vintage ysl burgundy velvet jacket that fit him perfectly and had it copied in bright red velvet...
(we had this theme going, where the guests at the wedding wore black/white... we wore splashes of red)

you can't see, but he is wearing skinny black pants...
and mod-ish boots...
i told him he looked like a beatle...
so wonderfully british... circa 1964...
