FASHIONISTAS CLAMOR FOR LAST SPIN IN A FORD
By SUSAN M. KIRSCHBAUM
April 1, 2004 -- GUCCI is going fast. So is Yves St. Laurent.
Fans of designer Tom Ford, who showed his last collections for Gucci and YSL in March, can get their fix at yoox.com, a fashion-forward Web site that has just started a sale called "Bye Bye Tom."
Among the 800 articles of clothing, bags and shoes from his spring 2003 collections up for grabs are a Gucci yellow leather bag ($290), a YSL Rive Gauche halter top with ruching ($548) and a silk print Gucci dress ($1,719).
"I've always been a big fan of Tom Ford," says Lorna Donohoe, 32, who was eyeing a YSL chocolate brown skirt and a Gucci khaki high-neck jacket in the $2,000 range.
"But you're justified spending a lot of money now because you'll never be able to get Tom Ford again."
