Henry Cavill

Hey there!!!! Thank you for all that you shared with us.

I was always convinced Henry will do great and will get great roles in the future.

I only hope he isn't stuck in these "great body" movies - I would like to watch him in a romantic or comedy movie :)

Not sure Immortals will be affected by Twilight since their target demos couldn't be any further apart. I thought Immortals would bomb because it's R-rated. Regarding reviews, I wouldn't call them largely positive with a 40% (less from Top Critics) but that doesn't matter in comparison to what the movie makes at the boxoffice. Most importantly is the WOM isn't bad which with help give the movie better legs. Another positive point, is that Henry's acting isn't slammed. Lots of people did on the basis of the trailers, so it's wonderful that Henry proved his critics wrong.

@ Dora, with Henry's looks I don't think you need to worry about him not doing some rom coms in the future. ;)

When I referred to Twilight I meant that it would be knocking Immortals off the number one spot not that it would be interfering with it's takings. Most reviews, and trust me I read pretty much every one written and even take notes, have been good to Henry (and Luke). I should point out thats for work not some weird thing I do for pleasure! Most people expected Immortals to bomb, well everyone not involved in any way, but it's done much better and hasn't hurt Henry like people thought it would either. I like to think I have some instinct!

Personally I would want to steer clear of the rom-com trap, I don't want a male Reese Witherspoon, but if the scripts right, you never rule those kinds of films out. If nothing else they can be the pay check that allows the actor to go make a smaller movie. There's a full range of things on the table post MOS so we'll see, I'm actually reading scripts at the moment.

Wouldn't want Henry to become the next Gerard Butler/Bradley Cooper either. Or the next action star. I definitely prefer more meaty projects like indies. A combination of Colin Firth/Daniel Craig's career would be awesome, lol.

The thing is when any actor does one film that does well, we get a dozen scripts all with the same idea. I have five with atm that involve either running about with swords or guns. People are very keen to pigeon hole and you don't want any actor to end up like that because you're constantly fighting against the tide to get them seen for other types of project. But at the same time you have to stake enough of a claim over something (in Henry's case, action movies) in order for them to build a name to be able to get attention for other roles. It's a fine line! He has a quiet but well balanced back catalogue though, The Tudors, a Woody Allen film etc that there is something else to work with. Daniel Craig is a great example of having an iconic, on going role that can be balanced with other roles. I'd rather have a Ryan Gosling than a Ryan Reynolds! I won't go on because career logistics are a nightmare, and I'm sure rather dull to listen to me talk about and no doubt will annoy the mods!

littlepaperstars thanks for all the info about the Superman set and Henry!

i just watched the Immortals in the cinema and, for the first time, he caught my eye. he's been up and coming for awhile now, no? he's very good looking, nice facial bone structure and he seems like he has potential tho it's hard to achieve it with such a bad script/movie. i hope he picks better projects and that Superman does put him on the map with the others more than it did before cus i don't recall seeing such a bad movie that actually got me wanting to leave the cinema after half an hour of it (even my bf, who usually isn't critical of the movies and is a fan of action ones, wanted to leave too).

if anything good came out from seeing the Immortals is that i'm def keeping an eye on this guy in the future. :)

^is that bad? at least there´s eye candy, Henry looks really good :D
Anyone knows when they releasing it in South America? still no posters in my local cinemas or dates

Never seen this one before, found it funny

I saw the movie and he looked great, the movie could have been better but eh.... he was great!

The movie was atrocious, i don't understand why he would even consider being in such a flick!

Oh and thanks so much for the photo with his wife, they make such a stunning couple, she is beautiful!

Oh i thought i read somewhere it was a private wedding, or a surprise wedding, could have been an engagement though....

I'm sure they're still only engaged? There are pictures of her recently with only her engagement ring (on her fb fanpage) but they could be old?

Henry Cavill changes his luck

“The unluckiest man in Hollywood” now has been tapped for two major starring roles.

Not that long ago the British film magazine Empire called British actor Henry Cavill “the unluckiest man in Hollywood.”

Cavill, a native of the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands near France, was almost Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies, but Robert Pattinson got the nod. He had been cast as the new Superman, only to lose the job to Brandon Routh when the project changed directors. He almost won the Edward Cullen part in “Twilight” (Pattinson, again) and had been in the running to be the new James Bond.

“The funny thing is, that the roles I almost had are the ones that kept me going,” he says. “Because almost getting Bond or the previous Superman were a sign, to me, that I should keep on plugging. And I was right. It’s turning into a great year.”

The fortunes of Cavill, 28, changed with “Immortals,” the new 3-D sword and sorcery spectacle. The actor hitherto known as a supporting player on TV’s “The Tudors” shed his shirt to play Theseus, the mythical warrior/founder of Athens, battling to save humanity when Titans (led by Mickey Rourke) take on Zeus and the Olympians of ancient Greece.

“When Tarsem [Singh, the director] and I first met, I did a screen test and he said, ‘OK, let’s take the shirt off. By the way, you know if you get this part, a six-pack won’t be good enough. You’re going to need an eight-pack.’ I was far from having even a six-pack, then. But I took it as a challenge.”

Cavill could let himself go, physically, for a role in the upcoming Bruce Willis movie “The Cold Light of Day.” Then “Man of Steel,” the next Superman incarnation, beckoned. Director Zack Snyder (“300″) put Cavill into the suit and decided he could work with that.

“Back to the gym,” Cavill said with a sigh.

Cavill is finally at that point where doors open and auditions for roles might be a thing of the past. He doesn’t plan to make every character “larger than life,” pursuing more human-sized roles. But he has a dream part in mind, should anybody bother to ask.

“I’ve always had a soft spot for Alexander the Great,” he says. “It’ll be years before anybody tries that again. But I’ll keep my legs in shape for when they do!”

Actors Henry Cavill and Michael Shannon spotted on the set of the new Superman movie 'Man Of Steel' in Vancouver, Canada. Michael is playing the villain General Zod and part of his chest armor can be seen under his jacket. Henry also was seen wearing the famous Superman red boots and blue tights. These are the first shots of the actors in costume.
