yes I love hilary alexander. I don't always agree with what she says but for me, she's the best UK newspaper fashion critic. I prefer her over Suzie Menkes.

She is lovely ive met her and she was nothing but pleasant .. she always comes across as being so down to earth.

Ill never forget when she was on some morning tv programme something like gmtv or simular and they were all swooning over her dress lots of ooohhh's and ahhhhh's and they asked were it was from awaiting some top designer or some up and coming indie .. to which she replied tescos lol classic

I adore Hilary Alexander! They always interview her on Fashion Television and she is so down to earth and has a really good point of view...she has very nice style also

You might mean spectacles ... which is just an old fashioned word for glasses. Those look like reading glasses. Perhaps they are just practical (rather than a fashion statement). I'm thinking that she only needs the little half lenses to read but her regular sight is fine. That is why they are on the lower end of her nose and she is looking over them at the camera. And I would say that goes right along with her "down to earth" reputation.

She looks genuine in what she does, and she does it very well.

her and Issie seemed like 2 of the nicest people in the fashion industry

both quietly intellectual and with amazing taste and an "eye" but still very gentle and non abrasive in their critiques and handling.

I couldn't agree more! I got talking to her when she was stopping outside for a cigarette before the start of our S/S show last season and I was working the door with the lists etc and she stood talking to me genuinely and so friendly for a good 5minutes, genuinely interested in what I ahd to say and in seeing the show. So much nicer than a lot of the other fashionistas who as you say are plain NASTY sometimes let alone snobbish lol.
She does also have a great eye and really champions designers when she feels they deserve it
