Even with the most pared-back styling one of our favourite new faces, Hirschy Hirschfelder, cuts a striking image.

For a 21-year-old from Melbourne, Sophie ‘Hirschy’ Hirschfelder is making a big impression on the international modelling scene.

With Swiss/German heritage and a strong, direct kind of beauty, the model, currently based between London and New York, is exactly the kind of look to suit Nicolas Ghesquiere’s vision for Balenciaga’s autumn/winter 12 advertising campaign, photographed by model-maker Steven Meisel.

Chosen by W magazine as one of a fresh new crop of models back in the August issue, Hirschfelder’s profile continues to rise, with a turn on Marc Jacobs’s spring/summer 13 runway securing her place among the industry’s elite.

Here, she works a mix of local and European designs with cool irreverence.
