i-D April 2009 : Miuccia Prada by Francesco Vezzoli

thsi looks interesting..i wonder if she went nude for i-D?

Hmmmm.... Very interesting. Is she supposed to look Mona Lisa-ish?

This should be great! I'm hoping (and guessing) there is an interview inside!!!!!!!! We never get to hear from Miuccia. And she's such a genius!

hmmm. I'm not really sure what to make of this, or what the point is. I guess the Mona Lisa reference is spot on. But so what? Why now? What are they trying to convey? Confusion?

What a turn-up! Most unexpected. I like what i-D have done with her... I wonder if it's a worshipful interview with her, or an analysis of the brand itself.

I personally dislike the pseudo-intellectualism of Prada, but that doesn't mean there isn't something valuable to be learned about the commercial side of running such a successful brand, how they've seeded their values into people's minds. But if it's a fashion hagiography, I'll keep my four quid in my pocket.

So Prada is art? Or is she an out-of-date museum artefact? A piece of history? The interpretation of being portrayed as a portrait could go many ways, some flattering, some not.

Wow, so unexpected, even shocking...
I like it, well the idea of it, I'm looking forward to the content to see what's the message behind this.

I think that "a peace of history" might be what they're going for, like an icon.

WOW, this is genius! i-D redeems itself once again after the lame British issue!

I don't understand this... looks so weird and fake. :ermm: Thanks shely

if this is the real cover ...
i looooove it !!!!

Amazing !

I'm not sure we can say it's a reference to Monna Lisa ... that is only interesting for Leonardo introducing his new technique of perspective (il sfumato) ...
I would rather read it as a duchampesque gesture with Monna Lisa ... if we go with La Joconde ... like a demythification of Prada (Dada) ... but there it seems it's Miuccia herself who's taking part to the game ...

interesting ....
She's portrayed, her portrait is framed à l'ancienne which could mean she's a classic figure of Fashion ... but the most interesting to me is they way they "stamped" the price on the frame ... like something cheap

and I doubt she "went naked" ... I think she's wearing a tube-dress ... or something that doesn't cover shoulders ...

eeek! they made her look really bad. anybody remember her in pop? the issue with sienna miller on the cover. she looked great there. this just looks like an unfortunate snapshot. the kind where you throw away the negative.

Are you sure that is the actual cover? Because the i-D logo is not where it's supposed to be. That would be a first!!! (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I was hoping to see Miuccia Prada in that Gladiator dress from Fall 2009 that she wore recently!

This is so brilliant, i absoloutely love the cover, and i swear i had to read the title of this thread twice, and still didnt belive it was her until seeing the cover.

hmmm. when i saw the title of the thread i was very excited, but this cover is a let down.

i would have never guessed that this is suppose to be a mona lisa reference. the frame needs to go. the logo needs to placed back in the corner. it seems awkward in the middle. the photo of miuccia is the most annoying though. it doesn't look like she posed for i-D. instead it appears as if they took a photo of her that already exsisted and edited her eye in photoshop. and in my eyes that just seems amatuerish and unprofessional.
