Unfortunate that every story falls short of their full potential. “NYC Stories” would have been good had the lighting not been flat, and the layout not been reduced to thumbs; “It’s Up to Me” had so much sexual energy— the backside shot of the model is so Mario Testino shooting for Arena Homme Plus and the best shot in the entire issue; and the coverstory would have been pure unapologetic testosterone on display but the dad-picking-up-his-kid-from daycare vibe and flat lighting just kills it.

Why are photographers nowadays so afraid of shadows and contrast? Everything is either flat or overfilled.

softer looks in photoshoots read quite bland to me. ^^ contrast is definitely needed. even a little bit of an adjustment would make all these photos much more striking because most of them are actually nicely shot
