Imaan Hammam

WOO
I remember seeing her at JPG, now opening Givenchy hopefully this well give her a kick start. On the downside girls who open Givenchy don't really get that much attention.. lets hope.

absolutely perfect - brilliant opener - best this season :woot:

Thats how you do it! Best opening of the season. Way to go Imaan!
Damn its hard to keep it shut

She looked like a goddess opening Givenchy; I'm quite impressed because as beautiful as her face is, I wasn't really feeling her previous JPG appearance as much as I should have.

One of my favorites this season. Really unique and fresh.

You know a girl is absolutely incredible when her opening a show leads to an entire page of comments on how good she looked :P

This makes me very excited to see her on the runway next season.

Perfect choice to open the Givenchy show! :woot: I find her face a bit puffy for my liking though but other than that she's stunning :)

right where she needed to be & opening to boot:clap::clap:.. So happy for her^_^

I've translated an interview Vogue Netherlands did with her, you can find the original interview here: http://www.vogue.nl/people/interviews/artikel/imaan-hammam-van-treinstation-naar-givenchy

Imaan Hammam: from trainstation to Givenchy.

Social media was buzzing this pas sunday, who was that beautiful girl who opened Givenchy?
In the past she already walked Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture and Topshop Unique, but an exclusive for Givenchy will definitely kick start her career.
Imaan Hammam (16) is an interesting appearance with her tomboy-esque style (she names Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Madonna as her style icons)and her personal values ("my faith is the most important thing in my life") so we want to know more about her.

A few years ago you were discovered at a trainstation, how did that happen?
"I was scouted before when I was walking through Amsterdam, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a model.
One day I was at Amsterdam Central Station with my friends when Marit (owner of Code Model Management) approached me
and asked if I was a model. My friends encouraged me so when I got home I did an online search and found Code to be a very professional agency.
I really liked how small it was, it doesn't have that many models on the roster. So I called Marit to make an appointment."

And all of a sudden you opened Givenchy last week, what an accomplishment!
"Yeah, it's still really weird! When I heard I got to walk in the show I was so happy already and then during a walkthrough Riccardo (Tisco) said "you do know that you're opening the show right?" My jaw dropped from the suprise.
He was so nice and really made me feel at ease. It was a fantastic experience!"

It must be weird to be back at school now?
"Yes, all of a sudden you're back in the "normal" world. Thankfully everyone at school is really proud of me.
I do a fashion course at the Jan des Bouvrie college so my teachers and classmates can appreciate that I'm a model.
Sometimes they get me in front of the class and let me tell all the things that I have experienced in the fashion world.
Really embarrassing haha."

You were also in the first edition of Vogue Netherlands. How was that?
"It was a great honor especially for a dark skinned model, I'm part Egyptian - part Moroccan, and with the limited experience that I had at the time.
Since I was a little girl I look up to Vogue, it's such an important name in the fashion industry. I hope to shoot for them a lot more!"

And show wise, what show is your ultimate dream to walk in?
"Victoria's Secret. I think that's the dream of every girl whether she's a model or not. It's such a spectacle, all the topmodels with the big wings, beautiful
lingerie en great music.. everything is so thought through, it's amazing to look at."

You recently starred in the movie "Nude Area" which is due for release this fall. How was it to act instead of model?
"To be honest I don't care much for acting but it was a great experience. The director of Nude Area, Urszula Antoniak, saw me in a magazine and called my agency because she wanted me in the movie.
I was hired without doing any auditions and flew back and forth between Amsterdam and Poland for the recordings. In the mean time I was taking acting classes. Despite the name, there is very little nude in the actual movie. For the few nude scenes we used body doubles, because I feel I am too young to appear nude on screen.
Also, I'm Muslim and don't find it appropriate to show my body in that way. It's sometimes hard for me to know where my boundariesare but fortunately my parents
are very supportive and let me figure this out myself."

What are your dreams for the future?
I see myself being a fulltime model in a few years, based in a warm country. I hate the rain in Holland! A handsome man would also be great but not yet, I'm still too young.
Allthough, I believe in fate so if I find the love of my life tomorrow then so be it! For now I'm just focussing on my work and school. "

Wonderful interview, thanks for the translation! I hope she gets a Vogue NL cover soon. Or a Vogue Italia one :pink: She's insanely beautiful, definitely the new face that stood out to me the most this season.
