Imaan Hammam

I was expecting to see her more than just at Schiaparelli. I wonder if she had to go back home for some reason? I would be surprised if Imaan wasn't booked anywhere else

I think Schirapelli was more of a special request situation, not sure if she even had a showcard or not.

A few kind words about Imaan, in a little article with US Vogue's booking director, I think in the february issue of Vogue.

That's nice. I hope she graces Vogue's pages again real soon. Her having 2 eds pretty much sealed the deal for me to buy a copy. Totally worth it.

^ Yeahhh, my bad. I was the one who said that. It was an option that never happened, bloop. Anyway, there's always next time.

^ Ah no, what a pity. She was the most sensational newcomer so she should have definitely gotten a big campaign. I have faith in her though, that she will get one next season.

I am more than surprised she didn't get a campaign this season, I seriously thought it was going to be Lanvin. And it should have been.

Do we think she'll snatch another exclusive this season? Either that, or her show list will be hella selective..

Obsessed: Model Imaan Hammam's Hair

by Celia Ellenberg

Dutch model Imaan Hammam exudes a certain “who’s that girl?” quality, which comes with the territory when you book a Givenchy exclusive in Paris; the seventeen-year-old stunner walked Riccardo Tisci’s spring 2014 runway last fall, marking a Fashion Week rite of passage that also launched the careers of Joan Smalls and Lara Stone. Since then, we’ve come down with a serious case of hair envy, openly stalking Hammam’s long, thick, dark curls on Instagram (@hammamimaan). “My mom is from Morocco—from the South, where people are much darker, and have [textured] hair, and my father is from Egypt. He doesn’t have any hair lately, but in his younger years, he had a big Afro,” Hammam jokes of the genetic pairing that has yielded her own signature strands (which editorial pro James Pecis recently teased into a sexy, steamy cloud for the January issue of Vogue).

“I like to leave it natural most of the time,” she says of rarely straightening her hair, unless given good reason—like, say, for Calvin Klein Collection’s recent pre-fall show, where (spoiler alert) it looked just as good worn sleek, ironed, and center-parted for the runway.

A sworn believer in argan oil, which she regularly layers with Aunt Jackie’s Curl La La Defining Curl Custard, Hammam embraces a broader beauty sensibility that favors ease over fussiness. “I don’t use a lot of makeup,” says the Amsterdam-born fashion student who sticks to “Max Factor mascara”, “a lot of Eos lip balm,” and lets her hair do the rest of the proverbial talking.

Still, she says she could be talked into a transformative trim by the right backstage hairstylist. “I wore a very short wig for [a recent shoot], and I looked in the mirror and I thought, This is kind of beautiful!,” she admits. With a full month of fashion shows just around the corner, anything can happen.

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 - 8 Models to Watch
by Erin Cunningham
Helena Suric, bookings director at Vogue UK, describes Imaan Hammam as “observant, unself-conscious, a rare type of model who can step effortlessly into whichever character a story requires.” The 17-year-old Dutch model, who was scouted in Amsterdam, made her runway debut at the Jean-Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2013 show, which led to her most siginificant career move thus far: opening the Givenchy show last season as an exclusive in a draped, camel-colored frock with leather detailing. Hammam, who is of Egyptian and Moroccan descent, has petite features and enviable thick dark curls that captivated the major photographers, including Steven Meisel, Craig McDean, and Mikael Jansson. She appeared in editorials in both U.S. and Italian Vogue within three months of each other.

Not really the show I was expecting her to debut in but nonetheless she looks great and I'm excited to see her on the runway!

About time, I agree and defiantly unexpected but its nice to see her finally and looks flawless I might add

I think it's actually a pretty good place to show up considering it's styled by Camilla Nickerson, who also styles Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, and Céline. That makeup is fantastic on her as well

If Camilla styled Edun then no wonder Imaan showed up there first. As per usual, she looks stunning and reels me in/makes me stare. Some kind of fascination with her has really kicked off in me since the VI print debut and I couldn't see it coming prior at all .

At least this way we'll hopefully get to see her pop up in some other places. Hoping for Kors, MJ and obviously CK in particular!
