Interview March 2023 : Lana Del Rey by Nadia Lee Cohen

It's like someone thought it was funny to stick a cigarette in the mouth of a waxwork on display.

I love Lana but that cigarette was unnecessary.

I think this would feel bland without the cigarette. Not to say it’s a great cover. It’s an okay one.

Exactly the type of cover you'd expect from such a duo. Just not sure whether there are still people who care for Lana's ennui LA hipster who's obsessed with darkness.

It's funny how lame this is.
What were they going for?
A virginal white gown that's not the least bit disheveled, worn, tattered or stained. A fresh cigarette that hasn't been burned down or has an ash hanging from it or dropped to burn a hole in the gown?! lol. It's such half-a$ed cos play. If you're going to be crusty, go all in!

I love Lana but that cigarette was unnecessary.

I love Lana too... and actually the whole thing was unnecessary. If this was what they had in mind, please, don't give us anything.

I don't mind the cigarrette but make it believable...i wish Klein shot this...

I, for one, died and went to heaven at the sight of this stunning picture. The rest of the editorial is just as gorgeous! The cigarette is absolutely neccessary. It's all about the cigarette. Don't kill the fantasy. This one's for the stans lol

Go stream A&W.

Love Lana but the buffet dress does not flatter her figure at all

I like the mood more as album are work than a magazine cover.

Does Interview still have interesting articles and, uh, interviews? I'm always reluctant to take it down from the newsstand due to how aggressively ugly most covers are.

cannot stand Lana musically at all but I think Andy Warhol would appreciate this and generally smiles upon Mel Ottenberg’s Interview.

Imagining the diary entries he would have made about her if they had ever crossed paths

Why is this issue so expensive on ebay? I could not even find this issue at any of my local Barnes & Noble's during early spring. The issues just never arrived.

It sold out immediately at the time. Lana fandom was at its peak at the moment this was released. They probably underestimated the demand and didn't circulate very much, and because she so rarely gets cover, it was just a hot commodity.

Thank you for this explanation. Makes sense to me.
